I need to run a cb power cable out to the engine compartment, how do I find the way out through the floor? I don't want to go tearing up the carpet so I figured I'd ask here and maybe go into this project with a heads-up! Thanks for all replies!!

There is a ~2 inch round black rubber grommet/cork thing in the firewall on the driver's side behind the dash. You can use that to access the engine compartment. The P.O. of my KK drilled a hole in it and ran a wire through it straight to the + terminal of the battery/fuse box connection.

Do you have to pull the carpet back to find it?

No you don't. If your looking under the wheel look to the top left. It is where the clutch cable goes on the manual models. Its to the left of the brake pedal. If your looking under the hood it is Under the left side of the brake booster. Here is a pic from under the steering wheel

Thanks lfhoward & vegasdragger that's just what I ended up doing exactly. Started from the engine side and fed the power wire cb end first then taped it to a coat hanger and fed it under/behind the center console to where I'm mounting the cb (to the glove box).
It's turning out pretty good, I've got my dedicated power supply, my cb mounted and a good idea where I think I'll mount the mic. All I'm missing is my magnet mount antenna I'll be ordering soon.

When I took the driver's side kick plate off there was a 90° USB plug hanging close to the hood release latch. What would that be for/from?

Are you mounting the CB antenna up front?

No, it's gonna be a magnet mount on the roof.

Wow, it would be sweet if that was a usb input for your stereo. Is it connected to anything?

No it wasn't connected to anything, just hanging there when I took the panel off. I might have to take the kick plate back off and follow it & take a pic for this thread!

There were thick red & black power cables running under the panel (along the driver's side), they said Hitachi on them. I wonder if the previous owner had an amp in the back?

I have a question on the mounting of the antenna, I was wondering if anyone knows what bracket people are using to mount it just above one of the tail lights?

In some of the pictures that I have seen it looks like it comes out from behind the tail light.

I'm planning on using this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000X39TQ0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=A1B4ZG3HU0PKN2

I think that's what you had in mind. There's another version of this where the coax screws on, rather than the low profile loop used here.

If you want to talk any kind of distance you will want a roof mounted antenna. Wether it is bolted on (drilled in your roof) or magnet mount. Both are really good for reception/transmit but you are so high that clearance becomes an issue. Your "tail light" ant. mount will only allow you to put a fiberglass whip on there but for around a mile it will be an "okay talker".

Check out this link for the "above the tail light ant. mount. It isn't the one where you take the tail light off for installation but might actually be easier. I think you have to drill holes inside your hatche's door jamb though.
