Hey everyone I'm looking to get some duratracks and want the right size. What's the difference between 245/70/16 and 245/75/16?

Hey KK4x4,

Basically, the 245 75 16 is slightly taller and narrower than the 245 70 16. Here's a couple links to explain what the numbers mean:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html - this one is a tire calculator

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=46 - this one just has some info on what the numbers and ratings mean

Thanks I think I'm gonna go with the 245 70 16s. Do you know whether or not they'll fit without a lift?

Yeah they will fit....at the most you might get a little bit of rub at full lock (if at all).

Good to know, thanks. I'm eventually gonna get a lift anyway so rubbing doesn't matter because I'm not gonna have the tires put on the rims until I get the lift

Hey just a thought but, if you're not going to be putting these tires on until after the lift, I would go bigger...so 245 75 16's (this size is most commonly used with a 2 inch lift) or 255 70 16's.

what size / type of lift you planning on getting?

Right now I have the OME lift and the 235 75 16's look small on it ( so would the 245 70's) . When these tires wear down (in a month or 2) I will be going either 245 75 16's or even taller at 255 75 16's(this size might need re gearing).

They will both be the same width, 245mm.
The 75 means the sidewall is 75% of the first number.
The height changes between these two tires, not the width.
