I searched but found little to answer my question.... 2012 Liberty Sport, no hitch nor towing package. Want to put on a hitch and have read that all Libertys come prewired behind the passenger side rear cargo panel... true? And if so what connectors do I need to hook up basic trailer wiring. Thanks. |

Pre wired? If you didn't get the tow package there are no provisions for trailer lights/brakes. I installed the reese harness which requires splicing into the driver side tail light wiring. Easy to to with a simple $3 12v tester. The reese is only a 4 pin connector though which means you only get lights and blinkers, no brakes. The much more expensive mopar wire harness would be the better option as it gives you a 7 pin connector for brakes and i think 12v accesory for campers. There mopar website shows install instructions for it if you want to look at it. *edit* the reese harness comes with plugs that plug into the factory tail light harness, the splicing i did was for backup lights. Forgot about that. |

Here is everything you will need to add the Mopar hitch Hitch http://moparonlineparts.com/jeep-libert ... p-908.html Wiring Harness http://moparonlineparts.com/jeep-libert ... p-911.html Adapter http://moparonlineparts.com/jeep-libert ... p-912.html |

That same Chrysler ships some WKs pre-wired for trailer hitch wiring, all you need is the 7 Way connector and hitch, so that doesn't surprise me one bit. For the KK, by "pre-wired" they may mean that it plugs in somewhere, that wouldn't differ much from factory. |

WKs must be fancier than KKs Mopar sells this because there is no prewiring for trailer harness. Unless you count the tail light pig tails. http://moparonlineparts.com/jeep-libert ... p-911.html |

Hi, sorry to resurrect such an old (and very helpful) thread but I have a question... I'm looking at buying a 2010 Renegade that does not have the OEM tow package. Other than the three items listed above (hitch, harness and adapter) does the factory installed system come with any additional features/components (e.g. cooling fans, larger radiator/s, electronic brake interface, etc)? Thanks in advance! |
