Wanted some thoughts and input on getting the oem Chyrsler/Jeep extended warranty while my Liberty is still young... 2012 with 21k miles.

I can get the Added Care Plan 5 yrs 100k miles for $1,130 or I can get the Max Care for 5 yrs 100k miles for $1,546

Right now I am planning on keeping her but am nervous about post original warranty repairs / work (I have an 2002 as well that just dropped a valve seat and is being worked on... see the thread and pics in the KJ forum). My thought was it will not be any cheaper than now when it is still covered 36/36,000 and well.... thoughts??

Thanks.

Does 5 yr/100k start when you buy the plan (now) or are they just adding 2 more years/64k to the existing warranty?

Kind of comparing apples to oranges but my last vehicle was a mazda tribute. I bought it with 55k on it and they dealer incorporated a 3/36k warranty which was well worth it because in the 2 years i owned it i had a t-case replaced (~$1500 dealer installed) and a starter replaced.

the pain is, they won't tell you the specific parts covered by the warranty. I had a 'bumper to bumper' extended warranty, over 4500 parts covered. Of course the parts that broke, weren't in that list, and the dealership wouldn't give me the list.

I know I did, but I might regret it.When I got my Jeep my last car's transmission went out. I didn't want to deal with any out of pocket repairs for awhile. However, I didn't know I was going to mod it as much as I plan too. Plus I'm not too sure they'll fix something that breaks "off road". I'm afraid I might void the warranty I paid extra for.

If you plan to mod your vehicle its probably not worth it, but if you are lucky and never use it they will pay you back for the unused warranty. was nice I got a $800 check from toyota when I traded in the xB for the liberty. But I did not buy the extended on the Liberty because I knew I would be modding, lift tires what not :2cents:

I would say not to buy the extended warranty, I have never been a fan of them and it always seems that the parts the break or need to be replaced are never under warranty.

2008 KK here lifetime warranty NO issues. Oh wait the entry key brain died and they fixed it would have been a costly repair, but then to think I was still in my 3 year warranty....

I'm a huge fan of warranties / extended warranties. Don't worry about off roading voiding the warranty, just make sure you give your KK a bath before you take it into the shop! So it doesn't look like you just pulled it out of a mud hole!

But seriously, warranties are your friends! I say do it!

I bought my KK over the phone. I asked for certified preowned. Which is suppose to give you unlimited power train. This was when dealers were closing. I read online a lot of complaints about people not "really " get this. I figured I was one. When I had my Trans service, I had the vin run and I do have the warrantee!
