So lately I've had an itch the liberty can't seem to scratch..so I've been thinking about trading her in.

Im looking at either a wrangler unlimited (used)
Or
Hummer H3! :)

The jeep is so danged expensive it's a bit of a sore note to really think about it

Thoughts?

Wouldn't parts be more for a hummer?

Parts cost money no matter if its a KJ/KK/JK/TJ or a friggin Hummer
Bicycle parts are fairly resonable though

JKU's and H3's are both way more expensive than a kk.

I figure I could have useful imput as I have owned a hummer h3 offload a liberty kk and a jeep wrangler TJ. Ok all three vehicles are different obviously but you have to take a few things into consideration. What is going to suit you best for all around use. I loved my h3 far the most out of any vehicle I have owned. I don't know if it's because I'm a hummer mechanic in the army or because it performend so well off road. What I do know is it was the most expensive vehicle to modify and Oem parts cost more. Once I had it lifted with 35"s I got 8-12 mpg. That killed my pocket as a soldier. The only away around those prices are a v8 alpha with a 5 speed. The 3.5l engine with the l480e trans were junk. Maybe you could get by with a 5 speed and the 3.5. IMO lifted jeeps are a dime a dozen I see at least 15 a day. I never see lifted hummers around. and I always was complemented especially when she was covered in mud.

I bought my liberty to get out of my f250 which in fuel alone cost me my jeep payment. It's a cool vehicle and it will suit me and my small family for now but this is a temporary vehicle. I will modify it within reason knowing its temportary but I won't invest 4000 in suspension to get it to what others can do stock. It's not worth it to me. Not to say its not perfect for other people and what they want.

And last the 05 TJ. It was a great vehicle it was my first 4x4 and I beat the piss out of it. I have no complaints except the gas mileage. It took me anywhere I needed to go and did a good job while doing it. And it's like the honda civic of off road vehicles cheap to modify

I did photos just so y'all could see what I was working with

I'm a little the same gren, I went have changed vehicles about 5 times in the last five years but I think I finally found one that I like. I will say though if I hadnt gotten such an amazing deal on my KK I would have opted for the JKU. Yes there is a grander selection of aftermarket for the Wrangler but like roastbeef said they are dime a dozen. The H3 is still also an amazing vehicle but Hummer is defunct and no telling how long OEM parts will be around. Also they are expensive and I like them but the Alpha is the best bet. I had a chevy colorado with the 3.5 and it was bad with gas and lighter than the H3. just my :2cents:

Hooah! Roastbeef, 31B (MP) here :)

Yea that's almost exactly what I read today, I'm addicted to the lifted H3 look though *_*

Still beating the jku thing around..with another tour overseas coming up soon it's soon or never. By the time I get back my jeep would have depreciated more so yea..decisions lol

I think by law if a car builder goes under they have to carry parts for 10 years. That's what I was told from a am general/ gm hummer master mechanic. Not sure if it's true but it makes sense.

I'm not saying the kk is a bad vehicle I guess it was just the best option for me at the time. So I do what i can to modify it and wheel with if for a bit and I assumed because it was a jeep there would lots of aftermarket stuff available. I was wrong but it's ok they can still get it done. Guess I can't really talk to much crap until I get some tires, that makes all the difference

91B H8 ASI :D

If I could afford it. I would go with a 2009 or 2010 black H3T, it would have the alpha package and the adventure package which means a V8 with front and rear lockers. They offered front lockers in 2009 and up models. You can tighten the torsion bars and clear 35x12.50's.... Man it would be a gas hog but worth it with the V8

Yeah that is sick, but to be a downer it would cost about over 20k easy just for the stock version w/o V8. I really was contemplating a H3 or H3t but I really wanted the v8 and I knew I'd be paying a lot for it if I could find one, they didnt make a whole lot and most have all the bells and whistles so you pay for it. Not trying to be negative in anyway, just trying to be honest.

Personally the only Hummer I'd ever own would be an H1. I think the H3's are way more show then go, they guzzle gas and there's a reason they aren't being made anymore ... errrrrr useless

Wrangler Unlimited all the way!!!

Thing is, I want it the exact same color and texture... so until I figure out how to do that... it won't happen.
