I have an 08 KK and there is small rust colored spots on all four of my doors. They appear to be under the clear coat like it is coming through the paint. I bought it used and found out it came from Michigan. Has anyone had to deal with rust coming through the paint? The warranty says the corrosion covere is holes in the body panels, these have not developed into holes, pits, or bubbles but I assume it's just a matter of time. If this is not covered by the warranty any ideas how to deal with this other than sand and new paint/line ex? |

Can you post pic's? A lot of vehicles from snowy climates have metal flakes from plow blades. (and other stuff) Clear coat is soft the flakes stick , rust and make spots. Could this be your rust? Lighter colors show it more too. A good wash than clay bar or polishing wheel usually takes care of flake rust spots. |

Okay, I Was able to get most of the rust spots out with some clear coat polish. I have a clay bar that I will try on the ones I couldn't get out with the polish. Thanks a lot for the tip, I don't think I would have believed the dealership if they told me that metal can get stuck in the clear coat. I will post a pic later incase someone else has a similar problem. |

Most light colored vehicles(white is the biggest offender) are prone to what is called "rail dust" which is the metal particales expelled by the train brakes when new cars are transported to major distribution centers.Looks like a ton of small rust spots but it's just rusting metal that imbedded in the clear coat.I spent many hours buffing brand new vehicles right of the transport with rail dust and every car company has a TSB for rail dust. |

Glad it worked:). My 85 plow truck was silver before clear coat. I closed the tailgate and had rusty metal flakes in my hand. |
