Hi everyone,

I'm about to get a 20 ft Bowrider. The total rig will weight about 4400 lb (I.e. boat, trailer, full tank of gas). My 2010 2WD Liberty did not come with the towing package, but it seems fairly easy to add the heavy duty cooling and the power steering cooling. I've already installed a clas III hitch, and will be towing anywhere between 1 to 20 miles in the Central Florida area (I.e. as flat as it can get).
Does anyone knows if the KK will be able to pull this kind of weight without much of a problem? Would it drastically affect the differential, transmition, etc.? Please let me know what you all recommend. I'm about to pull the trigger on this boat and don't want to make a $20K mistake...

I did a test tow of my dads boat that was right around that weight, maybe a little more. And the KK did fine. I don't have the tow package just the class 3 hitch. While I can't "recommend" doing it because it is not rated for 5K lbs with out the factory tow package, mine didn't seem to be struggling. Keep in mind the factory tow package also comes with the electronic Trailer sway control program.

I have a similar boat and a factory tow package on mine. I couldn't imagine doing it without the sway control. Just sayin...

I also advise having some sort of trailer brakes on it. My dads boat did. Also I don't know how y'alls boat ramps are but I would be nervous pulling it out on some of ours in 2wd. You should at least consider getting a front tow point so someone can help you out if you have trouble.

Thank you for the advice. I will do a test run with my friend's boat tomorrow. It happens to be the exact same boat that I' looking to buy.

What if I add the heavy duty cooling fan and the power steering cooler? I would also buy a load leveling hitch. Regarding the sway control, do you think it would be completely necessary?

As stated... pulling a boat of that weight with the liberty without 4 wheel drive and the sway control is doable, just not advisable. My boat and trailer setup want to walk making the libertys tow control needed. Remember... you will not I e more if there is a wind to push you around too. The ramps around here are used regularly and the tide is huge causing the ramps to be slippery with more than just water. I use to haul the same boat with a 2 wheel drive Ram 1500 and had a that tendancy to spin tires. Could have been because of torque but I would not consider a 2 wheel drive liberty for hauling my.boat. I would suggest you think long and hard on the purchase.
