Sorry if this was posted already.
What I bought:
2 Stabilus Lift-O-Mat P/N SG 130018 (98 Seville) 16 3/4" Barrel 15" Rod. - Auto Parts
2 8mm Ball Joint Stud M6x1.00 (Rod End) - LiftSupportsDepot.com
2 10mm Ball Joint Stud 5/16x18 (Barrel End) - LiftSupportsDepot.com
What I did:
You can use existing holes on 2012. Barrel End- engine compartment drivers side by front of battery and pass side front of air intake. Rod End- Hood Brackets, the only holes there.

I went an extra step and drilled the barrel end holes 1 1/2" rearward from factory holes because on pass side the ball stud was hitting the AC line. If you drill, put something on the back side of the hole to protect anything underneath. 20 Min install, opens like a big mouth bass.
* Note these pistons hold firmly at full lock hood open. They will not hold partial open. Don't know if that matters to anyone.

Thanks to all from this newbie Jeep owner. Many great ideas here. Pics when I can figure that out.

I've been wanting to do this mod for a while now. I think I saw it over on JeepForum first... Sounds like you did too with the Cadillac hood struts! I would love to see pictures, especially with where you put the ball studs relative to the AC lines.

Yea, saw it there first also. Need to register there too. Great info both places.
Tried to simplify what is needed. Probably no right way. This one worked for me.
Sorry about no pics yet. Gotta get a little help from my kids! LOL Just double checked my measurements. If a 2012, drill new holes exactly 1 1/2 " behind (rearward) of the factory holes. If no factory holes, drill exactly 2" behind (rearward) of the 90 degree turn in the AC line. (where the AC line turns from the fender well, right by the AC line support bracket)
Don't forget to back the drill hole with something solid for protection.
Great little Mod.

Hope this helps!
