I finally got around to washing the Jeep after awhile of neglect. There was one area in particular that stuck out in the wheel wells. It looks like my tires rubbed on them and left red tread marks. Completely lost here. Maybe surface rust but its plastic and the underside looks pretty clean for living so close to the ocean and I dont even have 10k miles on it. Its not really a problem so much as an annoyance. Pic below and all 4 wheel wells look like this.

Hard to tell from the photo, but could you of ran through some paint and it threw it up on there ?? |

Well both my cars went through Sandy and survived. Both get parked outside on the street but its the same amount of color under every wheel well. Just weird. Other car has nothing. |

Yea its actually making me want to go rip all the plastic out LOL. Ill take some better pics later. |

I'm thinking paint, or some sort of mud. Whenever I wash the wheel wells they are always grimey. Could be anything, since you haven't washed her in a while, and not likely rubbing all of your tires. |

I'd think paint too. There's some yellow on mine. Try gum off, that might remove it. |

See if acetone or paint thinner have any effect on it. |
