265/70r16 vs 245/75r16 opinions???

on the market for new tires, 265/70r16 or 245/75r16 and will install on the oem 16x7 wheels.
2.5" rr lift

I am in florida and my biggest challenge is mud, that is why i am thinking a wider tire may have the advantage, now i se thast most people here run the 245's. any suggestions.

Also i drive my car every day, and and basically take it off road in the hunting season. any ideas of good tires for my.
love the mts, but they suck on wet conditions, so i think ats may be better...

Check out Duratracs, good road tire and rough enough to handle off road
between 245-75s and 265-70s on stock wheels I'd stay with 245-75s
RR lift ?????????

Did you already buy the lift? I've read some bad reviews of that company on this forum and would stay away from that kit.

not yet... but is hard to pick a lift

for me i only want to get a little more clearance and better tire size, but very important a comfortable ride. and for what been readings it is ok, but really want to know why they complaint about it

I've actually seen mixed reviews about RRO. However, a lot of them are complaining about the terrible customer service or missing/ broken parts.

Just go to Jeepinbyal
has lifts from 650 on up
don't even mess with RRO
Ride will be good with either Ironman or OME springs

Rocky road pretty much copies other companies stuff and not as well as they should. If you get the over the top spacer lift, you'll be changing it within 25000 miles or sooner. Tereflex designed that lift. It uses the stock springs, the front shocks bottom out all the time, even with extended bumpstops. I now have an OME lift from jeepin by al. Stay far away from RRO's upper control arms, rock sliders and their other lift, can't remember the name. Search around on the forum and you'll see that the rockslides have been bent with no support, upper control arms are loud and don't fit properly with no support. Good luck with your search and remember, buy once, cry once.

Dude, just to to jeeping by al and get the tommudd kit, 4 inches of lift and front a arms for 1200. If its not OME or IronMan then stay away from it.

I just put 245/75 r16 duratracs on my none lifted KK Sport. Fit with no modification on stock wheels. They look really great but will look awesome with a lift. I have done a bunch of research and spoken to a lot of people concerning the "cheaper" lifts. I received my Rocky Road Outfitters Budget Lift today and will be installing it on Saturday. I must say despite the blasting the company gets on this forum hey have been top notch. All of my emails have been answered the following day if not the same day. The emailed me the kit instructions before I even purchased the kit so I could research their install. As I have been speaking with them regularly they even said they would be available on Saturday should I have any issues. Oh yeah. I ordered my kit around 10 PM last Friday and as I said my kit arrived today. I will post pics of before and after as well as the install if anyone is interested.

make sure you get some Teraflex bumpstops that will save your front shocks for a few miles longer.

Back to this, that's my dilemma too. Only off roading is
Driving the beach, with soft sand and deep ruts in the summer. I'm considering 265s with the hope of not having to air down. Or at least only having to air down slightly and be able to drive the 5 miles back to the house.
And my lift to be ordered soon will be from JBA.

That's why I went with the 245's and the simple lift. I won't be Rock crawling or blazing any new trails. Most of my driving is Arizona desert stuff that doesn't involve a lot of suspension articulation and the occasional trip North to let the kids play in the snow. I have only had my tires on for a couple week but have already done one snow trip and the Duratracs were awesome. They aren't the quietest tire but I like that about them.

I did the same thing, my front shocks would bottom out every time I hit a medium sized bump and the rear shocks absolutely sucked. You'll also need upper control arms and extended bump stops front and rear. That's a 2" spacer you'll be putting on the front and it'll require you to grind off the top of the studs in order for it to fit onto your top plate. The instructions will tell you to remove your lower control arms for installation, it won't make it any easier to assemble. Use a spring compressor to compress the strut so that you can put the clevis bolt in. The only other advice I can give to you is to start saving for new springs. You'll start sagging after about 15,000 miles. You should seriously consider JBA upper control arms, far superior product and if you have any problems they have your back. RRO has great customer service until after the sale, that's when the problems start. Oh, I almost forgot, you'll probably need two spring isolators for the rear, it'll sit a little lower than the front.

I hate to hijack this thread with lift comments, but....... I fail to see how the RRO lift will cause your springs to sag any faster than just driving around would. The lift does absolutely nothing to the springs or shocks. It just adds a spacer in between the original shock/strut mount and the shock/strut. As far as the shock/strut is concerned there has been no change to it. The same can be said for the rears. There is no mechanical change to the springs what so ever. I can see where a longer bump stop would come in handy if you were going to full extension/retraction of the suspension however. That said normal road and light trail obstacles should not cause the shock to bottom out unless it was going bad to begin with. Oh well, time will tell. I will start a post from start to finish with on going reports. Now back to your normal scheduled thread.

Hate to continue this,
BUT over the last 8 plus years I have been on LOST I have heard the above at least 20 times a year. And 19 out of 20 times within a few months folks were coming back and saying you were right, and then they were spending more money doing a full spring lift. The one we never heard from again hated the ride and handling and sold their Liberty.
Adding a spacer does make the springs and shocks wear out faster, period
