| Post subject: | Possible Lighting Mods |
Hey all as you may or may not know I am new here and have some burning questions. To start with I am wondering about some exterior lighting mods as I mostly drive in the city and love the style of modern projection and LED systems. I am looking into creating a sequential turn signal system for either the front, rear, or both in the fashion that the newer model Mustang's use. Does anyone have any idea on where to get started with this? The search feature seems to be broken for the forum. The second part of this would be a LED strip underneath both headlamps to give a more aggressive look, is there a recommended company to go with on these? I know Lumen is reputable. Also, has anyone attempted this? I assume I can follow their guide and wire them into the normal headlamp wires. I have some ideas for projection lamp installations but I figured I'd start with the LED strips, and maybe the sequential lights "assuming I do not have to jerry rig some thing hardcore." Thanks guys! And thanks for any input. LEDS I have looked at: http://www.carid.com/universal-lighting ... 26562.html http://www.carid.com/universal-lighting ... 60497.html Random LED replacements for the standard bulbs? Any thoughts?: http://www.carid.com/2008-jeep-liberty-lighting/ Projections: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/index.php?cPath=24 Forgive me this is a horribly formatted thread. Also I'm fruitlessly searching for the thread where a member modded his skyslider with weatherproofing stuff from Lowes, he had pictures and the works... but I can not find it. If a kind soul has it bookmarked many thanks if you link! |

Projectors I do agree with. Was going to do them but cost was too high IMO for a jeep at this point. |

I agree with you on this point, $300 is quite a bit for a headlamp swap if you have to cook the casing to pry it open, and then retrofit.. |

Although it's on a KJ, Infernicus recently posted a detailed how-to on installing projector headlamps. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=73420 libertyRS has a white lowered KK and did this mod. Here's his build thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=69834&p=748170 |

Awesome, thanks for those links, both look great. Still need to decide on what all I need for this job, though I may do the LED strips first. |

AtTheHelm has green LEDs surrounding his headlights. You can see them in this post: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=70678&start=20 That will give you some idea of what they look like on a KK. |

Ah yep, thanks for the link, though I think it looks a bit too much like christmas, I saw a post with the white el'cheapo LED's at AutoZone that actually did not look too bad. |

LED strip fit nicely in the bumper. All I did is open up the hole and install the lights into the bumper... It looks OEM~! DRL LED off ![]() DRL LED on

THAT is a sweet addition! I think I will go for that, how difficult was it to wire up? Where did you pick the LED's up at? |

That gap in the bumper is 1.0" high... and approx 9.0" wide. Just for reference only. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FS ... UTF8&psc=1 The listing is no longer available on amazon anymore, but I believe I saw the those lights on ebay as well... Please measure your bumper before ordering: 8.0" (L) x 2.5" (W) x 1.0" (H) I just tag it to the fuse box in the engine bay as soon as you have turn the key to ACC or on, the LED will turn on...

I'll have to try this, wondering how cheap I can go without it looking horrible, or having bad lighting quality.. |
