I have a few questions to those with the rock krawler lift.

1. Did you install teraflex bumpstops? are these needed?
2. Did you have issues with the upper control arms/ball joints hitting the spring?
3. Any tip or tricks you learned when installing this kit?

please no flaming :)

Right now i am saving up for my first home so spending 1200 for OME+control arms just isnt a good idea. I know alot of people say its a bad design and a terrible company but the limited search i did on this kit i found people who had it said it wasnt that bad, and does require a OTT spacer or UTT spacer. No dissasembly if the strut/spring either. I dont really off road nor will I. But when driving out on the beaches I would not like to bottom out in the ruts :) I am ok with getting this kit for temp until i can toss around some more money. Can someone who knows about this kit lend some insight instead of my brothers uncles sisters friend has this kit and said it sucked. alot of people will say its junk dont get it but they have no first hand exp. with this kit!

Thanks in advanced!

I'll be good
Yes you'll need front bumpstops for sure
One of the things spacer style lifts are known for is the need for them since you're working with weak springs

I have had no issues with my RK lift, and I did not install the Teraflex bump stops. I haven't wheeled it hard yet so I still don't know if I'll have any problems at full flex.

Just a matter of time doesn't matter if you wheel it or not, curb pulling into the mall will do it

I have done some light off roading with it, and driven many miles in town and still not had an issue.

I do not understand what you mean "curb pulling into the mall will do it"?

if you mean the forks are not strong, i dont think thats the case, the stock units are cast which is weaker than the tig'd nice thick steel RK ones.

:-)r
sorry no I mean just pulling into a mall will be enough to have the springs compressing too much and hitting the stock bumpstops with a spacer style lift. I know how they are built, seen plenty been doing this for a long time
LOTS of really good reading on here regarding the use of spacer lifts on both the KJ and KK ( both front suspensions use the same parts )

well theres my dilemma!

the RK kit doesnt seem anything like the daystar or typical spacer kit. The RK doesnt compress the spring at all. it leaves that portion stock so in theroy it should last the same as a stock liberty.

I have put probably 2000+ miles on it so far. I haven't had an issue of the upper control arms hitting the springs.

Wrong, it does compress the spring, maybe not quite as much as say the Daystar but it does compress it more than what you have it now. By installing it with the weak springs the KJs /KKs came stock with plus after the miles you have on once you start installing it , it will compress more.
No doesn't seem like it would in theory, but in reality it does

IF you installed any spacer style lift on a brand new KK say then you would get the full lift out of it ( for a while of course) but on used springs no way. Plus if not replacing the stock shocks they will be working more as well so they will also wear out faster .
Doesn't matter if you install a longer clevis or a OTT spacer, both have a negative effect on stock springs

With used sagging springs you will not get any UCAs hitting the springs, eventually it will start bouncing off the bumpstops, but you have to have more height to have UCA/Spring contact.
Yes newer springs it may but not older.
Here is an example, I run mine with 4.25 inches of lift, with the JBA UCAs I get some contact every now and again. I tested the first Ironman lift and had it set for 3.75 inches of lift and had no contact at all since it sat lower and more away from the UCAs .

Lowridah, whats your measurement from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare ?

Sorry I took so long with the measurements, its 20" in the front and 20.5" in the rear.

Those caps hurt lol
There may be a reason why they're not available anymore.
If you REALLY want a spacer lift, there's one on JBA's site and Teraflex sell one too.

sent you a pm, i have a new in box terraflex lift for 165 shipped

Post subject:  Re: those with the rock krawler lift kit.........(no flaming

165? ,......which would pay for two springs
Now since you should add front shocks when installing this kit or any spacer lift , plus you'll need longer rear shocks the only extra you are spending is for two more springs ..................
