Heavily debating these 2 for the rear. I went up to 4wheelparts today to get a quote for everything and they are only $200 apart...seems about right for the truetrac , but seems excessive for the no slip. $475 for the no slip $677 for the DTT Install, taxes, fluids, etc $427 for either one. I thought the install would be less for the no slip and about right for the truetrac. Not sure of any other off road shops in the N Dallas area, wish I knew somebody local to help me put the no slip in and be done with it... |

Why when you have traction control? |

The brake assist traction control is nowhere near the same as a locker or limited slip. I would suggest the truetrac. |

Second that. I hear good things about the DTT and would probably spend extra on it. |

You will like the DTT. Can't tell it is even there til you need it. It made a big difference on how the KJ will climb. Mine is on the front but I have wheeled with a Kj that had one in the rear and we were pretty even out on the trail. |

Someday soon, I plan to regear. When I do, trutracs are going into both axles. I was advised by the gear guy at 4WP to use a limited slip in the rear because the Detroit locker I wanted would cause problems while towing. Powertrax is a pretty easy instal it that's the way you want to go. I done know why they want to charge so much, the carrier doesn't have to come out and there's no real setup. It just replaces the spider gears. The powertrax is a lunchbox locker. |

I run true trac's front and rear an love them... I HAD an aussie locker for a very short time (long story) but what I will tell you is stay away from a lunch box locker as you get what you pay for. If you go with the powertrax's unit, you can do it in your drive way for less then 50 bucks and an afternoon of alone time with the jeep. Honestly, I think they are charging you 300 to much for labor in the powertrax's unit. The install for the DTT sounds right inline for a full carrier replacement. Oh and do a little searching on ebay or the like for the DTT... Here is the place I got my DTT from for 575: https://www.drivetrainamerica.com/p-35- ... dodge.aspx |

I got the trutracs installed along with 4.10 gears, what a difference. I felt it as soon as I started driving. WAY more power and the traction was incredible. I've had it Offroad and can honestly say it handles like a different Jeep. I was climbing hills and going through mud that I couldn't get through with the factory traction control. There are a couple circumstances where it's possible for a wheel to spin and the opposite one to sit still but the traction control takes care of that very well, like they were made to go together. I highly recommend a pair of trutracs and while they're in there regear. You'll have the same labor charge and you'll need a master rebuild kit anyway, may as well get the last couple pieces and put the gears in. |

Aside from the DTT and sorry if im derailing a bit what's everyone's thoughts on ARB lockers? I know they are pricey but other than that what are some pros and cons between say a DTT and ARB or are they even comparable? |

The ARB is a true selectable locker, open when unlocked, flip 2 switches and it's now a full on spool. Both tires on that axle will turn at the same speed no matter what(or till something breaks which will not be the ARB in 99.99% of all cases). Love my F/R ARB's. |

ARB's are probably the best locker available. Detroit trutracs are probably the best limited slip available. Both good but very different. Here's a demonstration of how a trutrac works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTXvH3T8 ... ata_player The arb doesn't slip unless it's disengaged, then It's an open diff. |

Everytime I come here, I get so engrossed by all the mods everyone has done to improve your rig, I think my wife would rather I BLOCK the site. Oh, and did I mention I was looking at moving up to 17's next tire change out? Think it's time to bump it up now that I have some fender clearance. I know, that's 3 mods left but I don't count the tire/wheel upgrade as a mod. Just taking advantage of all that room I have now.

I agree about RRO.. Was just looking at the site/hardware. I would buy from somewhere else. I'm not too impressed about JBA either but that's another story. 2. I agree about the tires. Was just doing some side by sides at discount tires webpage and see that I can go to 255/70 16's and gain an inch in height without having to buy new rims. So, that might be the way to go but the Hankook Dynapro's I'm running now are wearing TOO good so they won't be replaced in the next year or so. I'm running 255/65's right now Thanks for the advice. |
