So after a year or so of bad off road decisions and mods my bumper was pretty shot. I hate that it's plastic because its so brittle. Anyway I bondod a few pieces back on (that I luckily had saved when they came off) and decided to sand it smooth and paint it black with truck bed liner for a textured and tough feel. Here are some pix

Here is a before shot. You can see the two pieces that I reattached.

This is after cleaning and sanding/scuffing

After the first coat of paint (I messed up with the primer and it ran a lot)

This isnt the finished product by any means. This is after 1 heavy coat. I still have to sand down the drips and put 2 more coats on. (I havn't even done the back yet lol)

I might add that I trimmed the bumper last year in case anyone was wondering. It really helped with the wheel rub from the duratracs.

This looks awesome. I plan on doing the same after Ive gotten some offroad time in. I want to use Rhino or Line-x and have a tuff front end. Again looks freakin sweet.

As promised here are some more pix. This is with the new steelies installed. Rides 1000x better. With the lift and the tires every time I took a corner I felt like I was on a see saw and gonna tip. Now it feels like it won't let go of the ground. Although each tire now weighs like 80 lbs. lol wuts gas mileage ? Definitely happy with the steelies. ( plus they look BA)

Image

I think they're pro comp steel wheels. Gloss black. 16 x 8 offset 4" +0 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

Lol ignore my dad.

More pix soon after I finish the back and resurface the front. ( also no chipping or cracking even after only one coat. This stuff is tough)

This looks great!
May I ask exactly which truck bed liner you are using? I am really considering doing this to my front and rear bumpers and if I can just grab a few $12 cans at autozone, it would be perfect. Its hard to tell from the pictures but I would also like to know how textured it really is, maybe a close up picture?
Thanks!

For the love of God DO NOT use the cheap bedliner. It looks great for a few months and then fades and starts to chip and peel. Use Monstaliner or Raptor Liner or have a professional do it.

Probably what dirty referred to as the cheap bed liner. Got it at lowes. I used it on some other auto applications ( on steel) and it held up fine through the winter. It's the same stuff they sell at every lowes and Home Depot. Bradley's anyone know the lug nut size for a KK? I'm gonna order center caps and new lugs

I'm sure this isn't the place to ask this but I'm curious what headlights you have in there? ZXE's? or did you put HID's inside?
