Hi everyone,

I have about 2500 miles on the new lift so far and love it. Lately though, the Jeep seems to have developed a random tapping noise in the passengers side front suspension (I think). It does not happen predictably over bumps or when steering or flexed. It happens even when driving on flat surfaces. It is not a rotational noise from the tire, and is not a regular tap tap tap sound. Its's more random, like: tap...... tap tap...... tap.... tap... metal on metal. I can hear it best at slow speeds. It sounds like somebody tied a screwdriver to a string in the wheel well, then let it swing around randomly and hit stuff. When I look under there I can't find anything loose. Any ideas? Maybe the chipmunks are trying to escape...

Thanks,
LFH

Update: I took it to my trusted mechanic and had them look underneath while I rocked the front up and down. We heard the noise and it appears something with the lower control arm is loose. I'm bringing it back to them tomorrow morning at 7 AM to have them narrow it down and tighten things up. I'll be driving to Michigan tomorrow, so I need the Jeep to be in top shape for the trip. We don't want to get stuck in the middle of Ohio somewhere... :dizzy:

Conclusion: My mechanic tightened the sway bar links, which were loose, and no more noise. And no charge for the diagnosis and fix. A shout out to Wark's Liberty in Lower Merion, PA: Thank you, and you guys rock!

Thanks for the update. Did he have any suggestions of why this may have happened? Maybe popular when you lift a KK?

My mechanic said that the sway bar links had to be removed and reinstalled in order to put in the lift, and they may have not been tightened back to spec, so a month later they rattled loose. I don't think there is any kind of problem with the lift itself.
