under full flex, do your springs fall out? while on the lift i noticed i could work the spring out real easy. were the L shocks not needed? |

Yes, they are. Sounds like you don't have any lower bumpstops on the spring perches. You don't want to go maxing out the shocks which is why the longer shocks are necessary. |

i did not install rear bump stops, do you know were i can buy them? i would preffer not to do the hockey puck kind and actually buy one. the 4 inch from jba is hallow and does not look stout |

They also have premeasured steps molded into them so you can cut to the length you need. That's a bolt hole running down the center. You won't believe how tough these things are, they're made of urethane. |

Yep those are plenty strong. They only take a compression load. |

use these. http://zoneoffroad.com/product-acc?ki=188&gr= you will need to drill a hole in the bottom spring perch for the bolt to go through. i used carraige bolts so that there was no rough edges of a hex head bolt to tear away at stock upper bump stop. if the bumpstops arent needed to prevent tires rubbing or overcompressing the shocks you can look into using limiting straps instead. |

i read longer shocks need bump stops but stock lengths do not.....true? |

No for every inch of lift you need an inch of bumpstop EDIT: and you need longer shocks if you lift period |

Which height Zone bumps did you use? I have OME HD rear coils & the L shocks. Do I go 2" or 3"? |

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I got the JBA 4" bump stops, cut them to 2", and installed them. Now I am wondering why I even needed that much extra bump stop when the springs aren't even close to over-compressing and the tires also don't come close to hitting the wheel well under full compression. Here are some pics ![]() Full Compression:

You don't need that much bump stop. I tried without any for a while but had to add to keep my tire from hitting the wheel well. When my tire was that far tucked the spring was still not over compressed. When I had a 2.5" lift and 31" tires I used no bump stops. |

Max out your suspension. If the tires are not rubbing or your coils are not stacked on top of each other or close to it then you do not need bump stops. If you need bump stops measure accordingly and buy the size YOU need, someone else's recommendation might be too short or unnecessarily long. If your coil is going to fall out on full droop you can put a coil retainer on the bottom perch, the upper should keep it from falling out. If you want to limit down travel instead to save wear and tear on your shocks and keep your spring from falling out use limiting straps. |

And to add to the confusion, JBA 2.5" lift does not require rear bump-stops (other than the factory ones). |

You also have to watch out that you do not over compress your shocks, depending on brand, length etc another reason you have to have bumpstops |

I'll try jacking up the wheel again to full compression with the bottom shock bolt out and see how much further past the mount the shock will go. Since it is such a PITA to get the nut into the lower spring perch, does anyone see a problem with cutting down the stock bump stops instead of the JBA bump stops? It would save the world from a few cuss words |

So if I am running the OME HD springs I really don't need the extended bumps? My wheeling will be limited to getting to the mtb trails and fire roads. |

You'll want any extra little bit of squish you can get when you come across a hard hit. |
