Anybody have any experience with the "RevTek" 2" lift? I am trying to find something that will work to get BFG AT's to fit with my 18" rims on '08 Liberty Ltd. Any input on best tire size to fit with this set-up would also be grand!

No clue about revtek but 245/75-16 is the biggest without regearing. If you do any towing I'd highly recommend regearing anyway.

Spacers lifts are not good to begin with BUT the rev Tech is about the cheapest POS you can buy. Even though I dislike them I'd say go Daystar if you think you want to go cheap, price wise and quality wise

I have a daystar lift for sale.
245/65/18 would be a good size.

I imagine I could have put a little more effort into it, but out of the three tire shops I went to shopping for wheels - all three said the RevTek was the only one they could get for me. Keep in mind, I live in a relatively small city in B.C., Canada :CAMPING:

From the info I have read throughout the posts in the KK forum, I think my main concerns at this point are:

-Will this set-up, a 2" lift with 265/65/R18 BFG AT's on 18" stock LTD. rims work?
-Will it rub?
-Will it cause issues with the ESP?
-Will I need to re-program or re-gear, etc in order to not take a major hit on fuel consumption/power?

...Too late to go back now anyhow. I'm going ahead with it on Monday. As long as it all goes smoothly, you might see a few more pics out of me in the near future. :JEEPIN:

STOP
HOLD THE BUS
DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER

First they just want to sell you what they have on the shelf or can make the most money off of
Again that IS NOT a good lift at all!!!
Second you have an 08 which is over 3 years old, your springs have already started to sag so you may only get 1.25-1.5 inches of lift over new stock
Third you are choosing a tire which is almost 32 inches tall, yes you will lose a LOT of power and a huge drop in gas mileage
Fourth, yes you'll need to regear if you want to regain anything close to stock back
Fifth, you need to do some cutting I'd say unless you only drive to the Mall and Church on Sundays
Do it right and get a real lift and proper size tires
IF they are any kind of tire store they will sell you what you want, NOT what they want to sell you
Its not too late to back out, you haven't bought anything yet, several REAL lift companies ship to Canada, do a real lift before you lose your money and have to do it over

By the way are you at least replacing the shocks ? You'll need longer ones for the rear and the fronts are done by now
Are they installing bumpstops ? If not then there is another issue that may destroy your UCAs and shocks
All things that your so called experts at the tire shop don't know and don't care

...Wow! With such "overwhelming" support, I guess I kinda have to reconsider.

Best I can explain it would be that I want a look similiar to the Lib that Musclezmarinara has for an avatar.

Did Musclez have to re-gear?

Keeping in mind that I have 18" rims on it still, what would you recommend? To be absolutely honest, I drive the truck a fair bit for work purposes, mostly on the highway and in the city. I do alot of downhill skiing, camping, mountain-biking so there is a purpose other than "to the Mall and Church on Sundays".

It has been difficult to determine what route I should go based on priority and funds available. I suppose the #1 priority at the moment is getting new tires and I am looking to stay as close as possible to my $2500 budget. I held out on buying winter tires this year knowing that I would be needing new tires in the Spring/Summer. That time is here. I had a flat tire beyond repair last week so I am down a spare, with one tire that I actually thought was the worst still on the truck. The tires I definately know I don't wanna buy twice.

In order to fit the tires I want (currently considering 255/65/R18 BFG A/t's), I need to lift the truck. Something agressive, but would do ok on the highway, and winter-rated. I am not shy about do a "small" amount of cutting, and am prepared to buy new shocks. I actually had asked about getting them replaced at the tire shop, but although my Lib is a 2008, I bought it last year with only 22,000km on it  They said it may not be necessary yet. I will definately clarify with them in regards to bumpstops.

...any wise words O'mighty tommudd? Appreciate the help and the ...seriousness.

Oh, ...and "the guy" at the tire shop (who drives a fairly nice old style cherokee with a lift/snorkle etc.) is somebody I met up a very rugged, doors deep with puddles, muddy road. Have since gone 4x4ing with him and a few other "Jeepers". Pretty solid guy, who I would like to support in terms of making my tire purchase, and it only makes sense to do the lift at the same place?

Not saying he is anything near the "status" of tommudd. Just saying.

Regarding tire size. I have a 2 inch lift and stock tire size.
I disagree with the "small tire" theme. The small height you gain with going to larger tires then have to re gear to get BACK to stock performance is an expensive. Get a good tire stock or near stock size and then get your lift. The stock size tire will get you through the same goop as the Large one.

With a $2500 budget you could purchase a whole spring lift and tires along with new rims more than likely. Of course you'd have.to install the lift yourself but it is rather easy while looking at guides posted on this site! I wouldn't feel obligated to buy something somewhere simply because the guy is good person, I say do right by yourself and shop around, compare prices, and maybe try to get him to price match.

Attitude ....................
Just trying to help
Tires you want are too tall without regearing and going to at least a 3 inch lift
even with 22,000 on if you upgrade suspension you'll want to upgrade shocks as well even with a cheap spacer lift ( rears have to be replaced with longer ones)
Anyone thats lifted theirs will tell you the same thing
I'm done
Maybe you should go the route you want, since you seem to think we don't know what we're talking about .
Have a great day
Oh one more thing, I would be interested in knowing how many KJs/KKs your buddy at the tire shop has lifted to date. They are a little different than XJs etc in what works best on them in the long run.

One last thought before I continue on with my day
Spacer style lift on a used Jeep, using stock shocks
and 32 inch tires

Musclez is using an Old man Emu lift with longer shocks and jeepinbyal A arms. His tires are 245/75/r16s on stock rims

his lift gives him about 3 to 3.5 inches of lift which is more than enough to accomodate his tire or the one your looking into.

HOWEVER
with the 18 inch rim you're looking at a larger heavier wheel/tire combo which will require re-gear to bring back to stock performance. It's not something you necessarily have to do immediately but if you tend to wheel often you could potentially grenade your diff or be constantly replacing drive shafts not to mention you'll be a bit more sluggish on the road

You're taking a very defensive approach to all of this but we assure you we aren't trying to bash your choices or the people who recommended them. XJ's are a different ball game when it comes to lifts being that both front and rear are solid axles which are bigger than our KK's as opposed to Independent fronts and a smaller rear.

If the rev tek gets you lifted and in spec for where you want to be and you end up being able to reg-ear sooner and get that libby where you want it to go. Then do it, make a write up on your experiences and bring a wealth of knowledge to this forum. :JEEPIN:

We all have. There are a lot of "experts" at parts stores and shops that want to sell what they can get easily or what they find in their catalogs.
I've found that for these jeeps, even the dealership mechanics can't think out of the box because they don't seem to understand them.
I put on a spacer lift before I found this forum and everything that's been said was true, I no longer use the spacer lift. It was money wasted. They extra money made the difference between OME and JBA. :2cents:

My bill : Tom's 1.5" Econo lift. (More than 1.5 inches) $750, and install was $500 including an alignment. Bump stops were just a few more bucks. So $750 got me all new springs, shocks, struts, and it was all well spent.

I understand you may not want to go this route because you feel your components aren't that old, but they are going to start making noises and give you a bouncy ride soon. My suspension had 47,000 on it and would make squishing noises and bounce up and down over every dip in the road.

Now it's much firmer, the ride is exactly how I want it, and I even have 2 inches of lift which is pretty impressive for a KK.
