Good day, everyone. After recently lifting the Jeep, I've decided the air dam is probably useless now. Does anyone think removing the air dam could provide the engine bay with more air? I'll be tracking my mileage religiously as usual and curious to see if my K&N cold air intake could possibly take in a little more air. If anyone has a ScangGauge, your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

I don't think the air darn really does anything to begin with. Be it aerodynamics or wind noise...I didn't notice a difference at all. |

Yes the air dam makes a difference - although it might be small first it reduces the air going under the vehicle - which is fairly turbulent and therefore a drag second it helps make a low pressure area that pulls air through the radiator. however you probably need some fairly sensitive testing to measure the effect (Chrysler did it and spend extra money for the Air Dam - to optimize mileage) anyone who has an ARB - has killed the effect and they continue to drive..... |

I've never found too much information on it. So far it seems it's there to move air away from hitting the front tires. Thanks for the replies and keep 'em coming. |

Been running without mine for a year. I also track my mileage religiously. No noticeable change. Engine doesn't run any hotter either. Give more clearance off road too |

Air dams have been designed for aerodynamics. Specifically for gas mileage but also can have an effect on cooling at high speed. Once you lift a vehicle, it no longer functions as intended as more air can now go under the vehicle and crash its way past all your dangly stuff. If you're lifted, go ahead and remove it cause it no longer functions. As for the air intake, leaving it on can theoretically increase the force of the air going into the factory cold air inlet. removing it will not have any benefit. I see you've spent some coin on "performance" upgrades. Have you had your vehicle dyno'd to see if any of that stuff worked? |

The upgrades worked for sure. Haven't dyno'd it. I wouldn't even know where to take it. |
