| Post subject: | Improving Auto Tranny shifting? **Edit: Re-Programmed |
update: So I uploaded the program to the ECM. First I went on the computer and updated the programmer and then Selected 2007 to 2010 3.7L Engine option and it updated it. Then I went to the Jeep and installed it. First it gave me an error after the copying process (before writing) and told me to restart it. After restarting it, it installed fine. There is a very obvious difference in the acceleration. It accelerates pretty quickly now and even idles at little less RPMs than stock. However My ESP light and traction control symbol stay lit in the instrument panel. What could be causing this? I changed my tire size from 29.25 to 30.5. And kept everything else stock, in the programmer. anyone else have this problem? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys, I have noticed that the Automatic transmission shifting is really lousy. For example, If I am on a two-lane highway and I have to overtake a Semi, The engine over-revs at some points while I'm over taking. I will be traveling 85-90Km/hr and I increase my speed to 120-125Km/hr when I'm overtaking. During this time the when I'm fueling the engine, it tends to hit 5K RPM and then settle right back to 3K. I have also notice then going from stop to 70-80km/hr, the tranny over-revs sometimes to get into higher gear. I am not abusing the transmission, just that I noticed it doesn't have good shift-points compared to other SUVs. It's really noticeable when I get on the highways and there is a really short merge lane. So I have to go from 40km/hr coming from the ramp to 110km/hr or whatever the traffic speed is to properly merge in short amount of distance. During this time the tranny takes a while to shift into higher gears. Sometimes it even reaches close to redline before shifting up. This doesn't happen all the time though. Can I add any Chips/programmers to improve the shifting? Has anyone done this and noticed any difference? (Decided to post this here, in case some of you don't visit Jeepforums) |

They have programmers for up to like 2010 or so, All of us with 2012s have been asking about them for a while, but so far not looking good. I have read they help a little with shifting points, I doubt it will make it a super shifting turbo , but any improvement is a plus. If they made a programmer for a 2012 I would give it a shot for sure. |

I know there are many out there but which one is best suited for this, I'm not sure. |

That's what I found online without confirmation though. From past experience, when I followed up on something like that I was told that my model wasn't supported, even though the websites said it was. I've been told that the hypertech is pretty good. You can find the part number on hypertech's website. |

I'm still fairly certain Hypertech is the only programmer. Been a while since I checked, but no need to since I love the Hypertech. |

Kind of surprised that there are quite a few people interested in the Hypertech. It's a great product, but if you guys don't get support by the end of this year, hopefully another company will step in. 24hp and 24tq is going to be hard to match by another company. |

Hey guys, just an update. I ordered the Hypertech programmer yesterday from Amazon.com. Total came to about $380 including Shipping and Duties. Should be here in a week. |

Does the chip help with the shifting points or does it just add some hp and torque? Sent from my iPhone 5 |

The parcel is stuck in a town 5hrs away. Don't know when it'll get here, the roads/hwys are closed because of flooding. And its supposed to rain the whole week. I don't know if I'll be receiving it soon. |

Changing the tire size on the tuner will cause this problem change it back and you should be golden edit: no experience with the tuner itself but I remember seeing that issue in a thread a while back. |

X2, form what I have seen, if you adjust the OEM tire size, it will cause a fault like the one you are having.. |

Dunno why it happens but you have to change back to stock tire size |
