Hi All, just recently purchased a 2008 liberty sport 4x4. Was thinking of possibly switching to synthetic oil. Wanted some opinions on this, is it a good idea if the previous owner was using conventional? Any risks, problems associated with switching. For some reason I thought I heard that switching after a car is used to a conv oil for so long could result in oil leaks/blow by? Oh yeah, my rig has 63,000 miles on it. Any info/experience would be appreciated.

Dunno, switched mine from conventional to synthetic 3000 miles ago. No problems so far lol. I think I have 53k miles on mine.

I switched from conventional to synthetic at 38K miles. Done 2 synthetic oil changes so far and all is good. Seems like the engine is slightly quieter, other than that, no changes. My mpg has stayed the same.

Switched mine (2004 bought new) when it had 1000 miles on it, at 185,000 miles still uses no oil between changes at all .
Have switched ones with 1000 miles up to 95,000 miles and never had an issue
Most of the problems you'll hear about switching was on older vehicles say 1960-1970 models

Thats by design of the engine, nothing can be done and sounds nothing like a diesel to me
I don't think mines loud or anything though

Ah yes, the "sticky lifter" ticking noise.

I switched to synthetic blend for 25k and just recently switched over to full synthetic. Ticking is still there

Is there any solution to the sticky lifters? Anything that could atleast quiet it down?

I don't actually think the noise is from sticky lifters it just sounds like the same noise

Alot of that ticking is due to the plastic intake,it amplifies sound and the KJ/KK does not use any type of shield on top of the engine to dampen noise.

As far as the oil you can switch back and forth at will, does not matter at all as it will not harm your engine in anyway as long as you do nkt go past the recommended OCI's(No one is in schedule A,really no one is as no place on earth never see's constant 70-80 degree temps year round).
