Tom - I currently have OME springs with Ironman shocks all around, a 3 conduit nut clevis lift and Al's arms. What would I need to buy/replace from JBA to upgrade to the Tommudd's Econo 3.5" lift. Strut spacer plates - need JBA rear springs - need (2.5" or 4"?) Bilsteins? Will my Ironman rear shocks be OK still? Rear sway bar end links? (might just remove rear sway bar instead) No gas tank skid so I'm not worried about the track bar (yet) |

Sorry Never seen this So now you have just springs only? No clevis/top plate etc? If none of that lets see you'll need to do a 1/4 top plate and can do a 3/8 clevis lift, that will give you 1.25 inches of more lift. Yes you'll need longer rear shocks since the Ironman are stock length. Either OME 132Ls or the Bilstiens NOW for the rear its a toss up but I think I'd just add a couple of extra rear isolators and be done, ride will be the same and you won't be buying new springs etc plus you can " customixe " the ride height easier in the rear that way Think it over, anymore questions I'm around here somewhere |

Tom I just had my OME stuff installed and have a 1/2" lean to the drivers side. I am figuring that this is due to the gas tank, etc. I ordered a pair of isolators from JBA. Is there a preferable position to put the additional isolator, top or bottom? Thanks |

Thanks Yep the old KJ/KK lean Little secret I do when installing lifts, I give the drivers side a little more clevis in the front and then see where it settles in at. Best place for a rear isolator is the top, will stay in better one rear iso will solve the problem and a 1/4 inch clevis in front 1/2 inch lean is quite a bit, most are about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch But all KJs have had it and KKs as well. I think the floors are uneven at the plant here in Toledo

I wish I would have knows that the Ironman rears were stock length. When I installed the lift I noticed that they were only maybe 1-2cm longer than stock which worried me. They are also starting to rust prematurely and I've only had the lift since November. Looks like I'll be ordering the top plates, new rear 132Ls and three rear isos (2 on drivers side and one on passenger) or should I get 5 (3 on drivers side and 2 on passenger)? |

Ok, thanks! I was @ 20" all around except for the passenger side rear, that was 20.5". Figured one iso on the drivers rear would fix that. Oh, Hunt sorry for the hijack. I had the OME stuff on my Tacoma that I had before the Lib and it was awesome! |

With all due respect crippled, the complaining, bitching & botched install of your OME stuff gives me no comfort in the data that you are providing. |

If you are 20'' then you have 2'' of lift, take it to 3'' or 3.5'' using clevis, top plate and isos if you want. |

I just want to fix the lean so it's not so noticeable. The height is great, but the increase in handling is what I was looking for. I've had jacked up rigs on 33s & 35s. I just want a capable daily driver that doesn't wallow around like a soccer mom mobile. |

I'd go two left, one right and see where it gets you, with the addition of the top plates should set you about level |

You're about right with only a spring lift remember what ever you do in the front doubles, so 1/4 inch top plate gives you 1/2 inch lift, 3/8 inch clevis 3/4 inch lift rear is just whatever you add |

Sadly like I said most of them you have to add some to make up for the lean built into them, some never notice but if mines off 1/4 of an inch I know it and bugs the H out of me until I fix it

Bikewrench wrote: With all due respect crippled, the complaining, bitching & botched install of your OME stuff gives me no comfort in the data that you are providing. mines all fixed, the "botched" was JBAs fault, they assembled them with the wrong strut mount and did not install the top washer on the strut mount. ontop of that the strut nut was not tight enough. put OEM mounts back on and reinstalled, all is great now, i am at 21.5 now as i was before with the "botched" setup |

again............top mounts are interchangeable and anyone installing the above should of noticed if they were not tightened ( if they knew what they were doing) |

| Post subject: | Re: Question for Tom on upgrading suspension |
yes they maybe interchangeable. but after holding both in my hand and seeing the differences in the build of them, the 2010+ mounts are much beefier and higher quality, I guess that comes with the "tuned" suspension for the 10+ models. Also since the strut mount on the KJ and earlier KKs were taller than the newer 2010+ you must compress the spring more to get the strut nut tightened correctly. When you buy from such a reputable dealer like that you would not think you would need to check. But yes, my guy said he looked it over and it seemed ok. But he wasnt a jeep liberty expert so why would he know if it was perfect. the Nut was so tight and it was pulling down the strut mount that a socket was next to impossible to get on there. You should have seen what we had to do to get it off. JBA really dropped the ball on that one. I talked to brent (i think that was his name with jba) and he said that the guy who was assembling them was a race car tech, not a jeep tech. Thats a terrible excuse but oh well. I still gave JBA my business and bought another pair of UCA's from them. |
