Recently, the KK's been making a clunking sound when I hit the gas while in 4wd. It happens when I'm coasting (fast or slow, doesn't matter) and hit the gas pedal - it's like there may be a little slack in the gearing that's being taken up. The fluids are all normal and there's been no trauma or other damage.. It still shifts into and out of 4wd just fine, never any grinding or other unusual noises. It does not make this noise in 2wd, and the sound seem to come from the general direction of the t-case, although I have not gotten out to listen while someone else does it. Do you think this just normal wear and tear, or a problem?

No on the hard surfaces - all dirt.

edit: just looked up the location of the u-joints - yeah, I'd say that's more likely that the t-case idea...

I know I'm late, but check out the rear joint on the front drive shaft John.
