I am looking to invest in some new tires for my KK. Shocks were totally shot all around and have recently been replaced, but the Goodyear Assurance tires that were on it are cupped to hell and wouldn't have been anything I would have chosen anyway. Now that the suspension has been fixed, It's time to replace them before winter. I currently have stock 17's (P235/65R17) I'm interested to see what you guys recommend or think about tires considering these 3 criteria: 1. snow performance - indiana winters can be rough, in small patches, and i've had my share of slide-offs (in cars) in large part due to crappy tires. 2. price - I'd like to stay around $130-ish per tire. I know a lot of that is where you buy from and rebates and things, but I just don't want to drop $200+ each. 3. road noise - the ones I have (unbalanced and cupped really bad) are VERY loud. it's not a primary focus, but I would love for it to have a quieter ride. If you guys have any input, experiences, or information, I'd love to hear it! |

Kind of hard to give input when we don't know what size you are currently running etc . KKs came with 16 and on up wheels so many different sizes. 130 per tire you're going to get a lower end tire anyways so may not be much better than what you had Should of replaced the springs as well if the shocks were bad, weak springs will cause more wear on the new shocks |

Good point. I've got 17's right now. 235/65. I did replace the springs when I replaced the front shocks. I'm not stuck on $130, but I also don't want to spend $250/tire. That aside, any suggestions? |

A lot of the "winter" tires fit into your price range, they are great on snow. Problem with them is they have a softer compound and wear quicker on dry pavement Firestone destination AT is a good quiet tire, they wears good and provides pretty good snow driving , but they are running in the 150 per tire range. |

Those may be a good fit. Most of the big outlets have rebates and cash back deals going now. That could put them in range. I've heard lots of good things about General Grabbers, Goodyear Duratracs, and Dynapro's, and I think I would appreciate the aggressiveness and traction, but do you know anything about how some of those more aggressive tires wear? |

I have the dynapros and dislike them with a passion. I know my firestone is haveing a nice rebate on bridgestones right now (don't know if its national or not). The bridgestone revo 2's I've been around ride nice, are quite, and give good all around traction. I would look into the revos or general grabbers is my good performance in all conditions without being to extreme of a tire

Would you gravitate toward Grabbers or Revos right now? |

Love the Duratracs, have 62,000 on mine and still doing great. Went places in the snow in two wheel drive that needed 4 wheel before . As far as generals personally wouldn't run them, much better choices out there anymore |

I think I saw those at a reasonable price (within my range) when I looked this morning. |

I got Firestone winter force for winter only. I have a second set of rims so mounting / un mounting of tires is not an issue. I think they were in 130 range but mine are 225-75-16. I wouldn't run winter only tires if I didn't have a second set of rims and life left on other tires. Because of my loss of job and health issues which have prevented me from driving. My summer tires are now still good for another summer. I did make my Mom drive me in my Jeep over the weekend, it had been parked to long. |

I tried to take a picture a few days ago, but the contrast on a black vehicle was all messed up the day I took it. I'll do another one for you today. |
