Post subject:  Spark plugs?
2010 Liberty 3.7.Almost time to change factory plugs.Looking for best performance and longest life.Any recommendations?

Just use the regular copper core plugs listed in the owners manual. They're cheap and easy to replace every 20k

X2. Some people have had misfires with the more expensive platinums and those fancy E3 plugs.

Problem is with my disabilities I can't do my own work any more.Hate to pay someone else every 20-36K miles.Was hoping for a recommendation for a longer life plug.

Don't drink the KoolAid with some of these claims some put out about longer lasting plugs
The 3.7 likes the copper core / cheaper plugs and also changes in the 25,000 or so range
They work the best that way

Sorry to hear that. Not to get too personal, but if your disabilities don't hold you back too much, I have faith you can do it. There's nothing hard about these plugs. If this is not the case, it shouldn't take a professional longer than 20 minutes. I can do it in 15.

Platinum and iridium plugs just don't work right in the 3.7,can cause funny running issues and misfires.Just stick with what the engine and ignition system was designed to use,copper core plugs.

Thanks for the replies.I have back issues that won't allow me to lean over the hood.I quess I'll need to find someone to change them for a reasonable price .The stealership wants $225.00 I figure that's around $400.00 an hour! I have 31,000 on the originals and so far so good,but I'm sure a change is not too far down the road.

I've been using NGK Iridium IX for about 10,000KM. No misfires, purrs like a kitten and better fuel efficiency.

The ones that were in before were also NGK, but not iridium.

I changed them my self, for the set they put me back 45$cdn. I also had to buy the 5/8" socket for sparkplugs which was $5. not to mention the anti seize and dielectric grease. so I guess when it was all said and done about... $65, but got a $10 giftcard in return. so it was win win :)

perhaps you can have a friend do it for you ? its really easy, all you need is a 10mm socket for the coil pack / ignition coil.. what have you".. and 5/8" for the plug, and two extensions would be useful. takes about 20mins.

Just did mine last night due to a misfire on cylinder 3. It took me probably two hours because I was having trouble reaching the passenger side.

If you have back issues, definitely don't do it yourself. Might be worth trying a more expensive plug at a cheaper garage

I'll have to agree, drivers side wa a piece of cake, it seemed like on the left some for each plug there was something in the way haha. Not to mention the back left plug.. wow.

Left side is the drivers side
so it was easy but yet hard to do ?

Replaced my previously DIY autolite platinum plugs with autolite coppers. Seems to be running fine. Idle is still a little rough as always. Biggest problem for me were the plugs not coming out with the socket. Thank God for needle nose pliers!

Next time put tape inside the socket so it can "hold on" to the spark plug. :)
