For a few months now I've been searching, calling and emailing around for a regular serviceable aftermarket rear driveshaft to replace the factory alloy unit. Unfortunately I'm having very little success and I've tried Tom Woods, Coast and others.

My existing shaft has seen better days and is increasingly causing vibrations the longer I ignore it. At some point the balance weights at the diff end rubbed off against the tank shield and the slip spline boot is split all around.

I'm seeing the JKs have very similarly built shafts and for those there are dozens of stronger aftermarket options available yet nothing for the KK, it seems even getting one made custom isn't possible either?

I could just get a low mileage used shaft for a little less but then I'll just have to replace the whole thing again in future. If anyone has had any success in this regard I would greatly appreciate any info, details, etc, including those of their supplier. Thanks guys.

I thought Tom Woods did custom work? I remember Diggerfreek getting a replacement driveshaft from them. Here is his thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=49738

High Angle Driveline(HAD) or Tom Woods will make custom driveshafts, even a local driveline shop can make you one.I got custom shafts made by HAD,just called and used there ordering sheet and 2 weeks later they arrived.USAFCOP has his shafts made by a local driveline shop, took less then 1 day to have those made.

They most likely don't have direct replacements so you will need to get the correct measurements and order one or that it to a shop and have it built there.

Thanks tjkj2002. I thought going through Tom would be a sure thing too, see his reply email below.

Happy to use either the existing flanges or replace them with uni yokes so that they're more "universal" for parts and servicing.

I've gone to 4 local driveline shops and hit a dead end each time, our mechanics in OZ are very Jap 4wd oriented so getting custom gear made for Jeeps is hard to do, JKs are the exception. I'll look up HAD and see if they can help? Cheers.
