About to order the parts to install cruise control. I've been reading that you can install cruise control in a 2008+ Jeep Liberty via just plug n play and not have to rewire anything or flash the computer with a StarScan. Below are the part numbers I believe you need to perform the installation. The stick is obviously the cruise control stick and the Airbag wiring harness is the wiring harness from the 2008 Liberty Limited's steering wheel which has a split off that plugs into the cruise control stick.

Switch - 04671928AC
Airbag Wiring Harness w/ Cruise Control - 68020374AA

Info I've been using:

You will still need to have the PCM flashed for cruise control since the main part of the cruise control is the electronic TB.

I figured the same thing based on the write-up in the KJ CRD section for installing cruise control. But the Cruise Control Store advertises that you DO NOT need to flash anything when installing OEM cruise control (see link below). Any validity to their claim?

How will the PCM know you added cruise control? That program is not installed, hence the flash is required.

Thats what I thought. In my experience, when you install an OEM electronic accessory that wasn't factory installed (like adding OEM Fog Lights) you would have to flash the PCM. I found one of the threads that discussed added steering wheel controls and cruise control to a KK Sport and the guys who performed the install said it was plug and play and they never flashed the PCM.

I think the steering wheel radio and cruise controls are plug and play. My KK didn't come with cruise control, so I bought the mopar kit and it worked with no programming needed; I would assume the radio controls are the same way. The way I understand it, the switches only communicate with the clockspring, which sends the message out the the rest of the modules over the CAN bus. I do know you will need an adapter with the aftermarket radio to use the steering wheel controls unless the radio can hook up directly to the CAN bus.

I have a funny feeling your right, but its definitely worth a shot anyway.

If what you're suggesting is correct it would only cost around $50 for those two parts and you would have cruise control. If it works please report back because I'd be number 2 in line to try. If all else fails it only cost me $50 for the dealership to turn on fogs so its probably about the same to do with cruise control.

This was the first thing I added to my Jeep and I can 100% say that it is plug and play (at least in my case). If you remove the steering wheel, make sure you replace the bolt that is used to secure it to the shaft.

Do you just need the above 2 parts & maybe a bolt?

In total you would need:

Cruise Control Switch
Wiring harness
(2) #10 T25 bolts (to bolt the cruise control switch on)

Keep in mind that your gonna have to cut a 1"x1" square in the steering wheel cowls so you can mount the steering wheel cowl.

I ordered the parts. Should be here next week. Hopefully it works. I'll post an update after I attempt the install.

I installed cruise myself on my 08 KK a few months back and I've been kicking myself ever since because I hadn't done it sooner. And it is plug-and-play.

Based on my expericence, you only need the harness from the switch to the clock spring on the inside of the steering wheel. From the other side of the clock spring to the computer was already wired. I got the switch, the harness and the mounting screws online from a junk yard for $35 shipped. The cruisecontrolstore.com listed all of the compatible vehicles associated with my kit and I searched all junk yards on Row52.com for a match. I think mine came off of a Dodge Caliber.

Here are my tips:
1) Use a razor blade to cut out your hole on the steering wheel. It's only foam and very easy to cut.
2) The mounting holes for the switch weren't tapped. This was the hardest part.

Good luck.

My current project is the factory tow package. I've got my Mopar hitch installed. Waiting on the wiring harness and the mechanical fan. The wife and I are done tent camping. We want to upgrade a bit and stop sleeping on the ground.

So is there enough room to use a standard tap with the wheel still attached?

Taking the wheel off doesn't get you any more room as the wheel is a foam cup essentially. I drilled the holes out to widen them for the tap. Then I had to use the tap by itself with a small wrench to turn it. The standard holders for the tap set wouldn't fit because there are two screw holes right next to the edge where the foam is. It took a while, but I got it eventually. I only received two screws with the parts that I got, so I only had to tap out one hole on the edge. The one in the middle was easy.

Here is a link to some of the pictures I took.

I'll update soon if the steering wheel replacement works/doesn't work. Apparently USPS lost it in the mail..... (>_<)

I've got the switch & wiring harness ordered. I'll attempt to write a how to & link it to this thread once it gets here. It looks like it may be a couple of weeks before the wiring harness gets here.

Bought one of the rostra 250-9001 kits on amazon. Got it next day and just installed it, it was the complete kit switch and harness, only used the switch. Haven't gone on a test drive yet but with the ignition on the word cruise lights up by the odometer so I'm assuming its good to go.
It was easy but was nervous about somehow deploying the airbag, I disconnected the battery and waited a few minutes before taking it off. Thisvis the first car that I've worked on that had them.

Its a normal fear, nothing like a fast smack to the face and a mouthful of airbag dust lol. You'll be fine so long as you just disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes prior to doing anything, then just pump the brake a few times just to make sure they're no juice still hangin around. Not sure if the second part actually does anything, but it will make you feel better lol. Airbags can't deploy if there's no power lol.

Well that was easy and cheap. Here is a link to the "how to" I created:
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=79548&p=837851#p837851

Total cost was about $55 to add cruise control. Took me about 30min to do.
