Learn from my bonehead mistake :banghead: :

Last week I had gone to a storage lot for work and parked right in front of a barricade. A few hours later I was in a hurry to leave and the exit happened to be right in front of me. I was too close to the barricade to see it from the driver seat and lost situational awareness, so I decided to drive straight to the exit, forgetting about the barricade in my way.

By the time I realized something wasn't right, my front had already popped up on top of the barricade and then slammed down, grinding on my skid plates. I ended up high centered and called a tow truck to help get it recovered. After it was pulled off, the only problem was the exhaust crossover would ground out on the bent trans skid at high RPMs. A new trans skid and a few coats of paint later, no one will be the wiser. :JEEPIN:

Wow, so glad you had them installed! This could happen to anyone. Or a metal object could fall off of a cement mixer in front of you on the interstate (seen it happen). Skid plates are a good investment, and are not just for wheeling.

Info on adding skid plates can be found here:

Glad to know these skids are pretty durable. More than once I've nailed a rock or bottomed out on a trail and have been very thankful I have them.

Hats off to you for sharing this. I think most would be embarrassed to show this.
Good to know they probably saved you, too.
