Anyone install these themselves? I've tried both sides, but the pinch weld mount is just a hair too far out in the back, so they don't fit. I've heard some people drill the holes into the frame rail first, then jack the slider up, which sucks the pinch weld mount into place, but I don't want to drill any holes unless I have the sliders perfectly positioned. Any suggestions? |

Any suggestions? Pretty much what you have to do, drill the frame and then suck the pinch weld back in. One of the Issues with them |

Like there is a gap between the pinch seam and the mount that bolts to the pinch seam? Just fill the gap with washers or a piece of 1/8" bar with a hole drilled in it. |

Yes it's only on one end of one of the sliders the other side is almost too tight but all i did was put them up and bent the bar on the slider that attaches to the pinch weld area, it seems to be doing fine |

The fronts have a small enough gap to where the bolts will tighten fine, the rears are bowed out a bit to where they hit the underside of the pinch seam like this: Code: front ] [ | | ] [ ] [/ \] [ ]/[ ]\[ The problem is it stops the frame plates from being in the correct position to be able to mark where the holes need to be. I figure I'll make a template for the hole pattern, align everything fore/aft, then just measure the distance the sliders need to move up and move the template up that far. so the holes are in the right spot. I always have a local 4x4 shop as a last resort. |

I did a little bit of grinding on the pinch seam on the jeep but I don't think we are having the same problem but and I'm a little confused by when you say aligning the holes??? Because the only holes I had to drill were into the frame for the leg brackets Edit: So I I might know what your talking about but I was able to bolt the sliders up with the pinch weld bolts and just drilled the frame while it was in place because I had to really bang on them to get them on so they were just going to stay on |

I installed mine myself and helped Txrugby with his. They all seem to be slightly off at the pinch seam. There is no need to modify your pinch seam, just take a hammer to the part on the slider that doesn't match up, it will bend (you wont break them). Then once you get room and the bolts go through then they will suck them together. After you get the pinch seam lined up, bolt it sliders to the seam and mark the where where you will drill into the body. Take the sliders off again, drill and install. |
