Ok so i painted the ATH roofrack and tabs a few weeks ago. I used self etching primer, Dupli color enamel paint, then a matte clearcoat that says its for rims but its an enamel as well. I spend alot of time prepping and used ALOT of cans (12). I would say 3-4 coats each step. Anyway I have had them on the jeep for just a few weeks and its already starting to rust! I haven't even put shackles on the tabs yet! Everything I read says that I did it right but it shouldn't rust that quick. ![]() Any suggestions as to why its rusting so fast? Im thinking maybe not enough clear? What can I do to save them? Thanks Guys |

Sounds like you did everything right, how long did you let everything cure for a couple days before install? |

How bad is it rusting? Local to small areas or everywhere? I hate to say this but it might be Duplicolor. I've only tried their truck bed coating, and the whole bumper flash rusted after first wash. Used it on another bumper about a year before with no problems other than it 'chalking' from UV exposure. |

I don't have the best experience with Duplicolor either. I always recommend Rustoleum nowadays. |

It's rusting in spots all over. Not real bad but I def don't want to leave it cuz it'll become a prob. Well dang I guess I may have to try rusto. Should I sand it down a bit a redo the paint and clear? What Rusto product do y'all recommend? |

The only thing I can think of that might cause this is if the metal wasn't clean and some residual oil was left behind on the surface. |
