The jeep is now having trouble starting. It kinda sounds like the starter is dragging but it always turns over aft 5-6 sec. it's a 11 with 42000 on it. when i first got it at around 8000 it did this and they reflashed it. battery was checked with a fluke meter and a electronic load tested all good and alternator is showing 14.4v. i hope it's not the starter but will replace it myself. i guess the dealer is the next stop. |

You need to test the battery under a load and if it's the starter it sucks I had tondo mine also |

Try smacking the solenoid with a hammer a few times and see if that fixes it for a while. Been having a problem with my starter off and on for a few years and just now replaced it a week ago. I didn't find it too difficult to do but I've had experience removing my front driveshaft before and knew it wasn't as easy as just pullin it out. I found it easiest to support the trans/transfer case and then remove the trans crossmember. Makes getting the front drive shaft out a lot easier. Then the starter is easy to access however the wiring is at a bit of a weird angle. |

Swapped out the starter for a new mopar one spent more time removing the drive shaft then fixing the starter. All is good for now. This being my first jeep it has made it official it will be the last Jeep my family will own. In 42000 miles since i bought it new it has had a new transmission @ 11000, rear main seal, tow haul button, shiftier cluster, and three non TSB related flashes of the ecu now that it's out of past 36000 it all out of my pocket now. Sad to see one of the last true SUVs was so poorly built. Love the Jeep and what it let's my family do but come pay off it will be bye bye sadly. Also sadly this puts me out of the ORV market due only the Wrangler and Nissan Xterra being the only options these days that can be purchased new. Please don't hate but any vehicle that repeatedly has left me, my wife and two children stranded and is only 3 years old is a turd. As always thanks for the help from those of you that have responded and have a great day jeepin. |
