All of a sudden my mpg dropped by 5 mpg highway and around town. Originally I would get 20 on h8ghway going 70 and get 16 around town. Now I'm getting 15 highway and 13 arounaround town. Can't figure out why.

How many miles? Do any maintenance lately? Any changes to the Jeep at all?

Cold weather is the most likely cause, and yes up to 5mpg's or more is common for this time of year.

If he's still on LI, it hasn't gotten cold enough to drop 5mpg yet. We had 2 days below 40. Today was 60. If he's in Vermont, then that's a different story.

pwdskier, if it makes you feel better my last tank was 12.85mpg. That's with my commute to Stonybrook. I just take Sunrise highway and Nicolls Rd. Not much of my tanks are city.

71,225 miles. Had the jeep for 4 years never happened before. Change oil and balance and rotate tires regularly. Going to check my spark plugs tomorrow. And cold has never had this much of an effect on the jeep before. And the only thing I did recently to the jeep was shocks. Maybe it is the case since your getting the same bmxr524

I'm also lifted 3.5" on 31s. That's why I get garbage mileage lol

Winter blend gasoline is usually what kills MPG for me this time of year.

Also remember the defroster causes the ac compressor to run which robs horsepower and mpg. And use of 4x4 will cause a decline in mpg... Lots of things this time of year for mpg sucking.

Mine dropped last week also about 4mpg. Cold weather and getting close to a plug change figured that was it. Well Sunday ran to the lake to grab a couple of sleds to get ready for the season, roads got pretty much snow covered. Reached down to put her in 4wd and DUH I guess I have been running in 4wd for the last week! I know the mpg will pick up this tank.
