Post subject:  i got a chance to buy a used lift kit

Hi I am new to the forum I would like to know
If it's worth to buy used rock father lift kit complete
With front strut assembled, rear shocks and isolators for under
$200 lift has only 15k miles on it , my 08 liberty has 105k on it, would the ride be way stiffer with this lift? I like soft comfortable like stock set up, but for the price I'm sure my suspension is worn some and may be worth swapping?..thanks

Depends on which lift RRO sold the PO. Some use some OME parts/ some RRO parts/ some ????
Without knowing what it is hard to say, some of their lifts aren't worth the price of shipping.
Little more information would be very helpful

I don't have much info on the that lift I know it's a rocky road outfitters Rockfather lift from 2.5 to 3 inch lift, spring rate unknown , is there a way to tell by the picture or color of struts what kit it is, all I know the owner invested $1200 in it, thanks for reply I can't see the lift physically

The main issues with RRO is most times they use OME front springs and front shocks which is good ( of course depends on what the customer orders as far as spring weight)
Rear is a toss up, most times they send a pair of their own shocks and springs which are pretty cheap.
They also use that top plate that really serves no purpose but its marketing BS
Just a buyer beware for 200 bucks if the front springs are OME 927s and front shocks are yellow ( OME hopefully) at least they would be worth the price if they haven't been beat on too bad

Well front shocks are yellow so I guess they are ome, maybe I can just lift the front to level the liberty
And leave the rear alone for now, do u think that would be a good option if I decide to get it..

Rear springs are really cheap, might be better just buying new rear springs and shocks.

If you get it and just install the front, they might make you nose high. Best case scenario is OME shocks and 927 springs. They'll give 2.5". The rear you could add 1" by add 2 rear isolators per side. That might sit fairly level.

$200 isn't bad. I think new OME front springs go for almost that much.

Yeah but now actually it may be $200 + shipping cause it's an auction style kit on ebay, depends how high it will get, unless I hold off and get new, how is the daystar economy lift, are they decent?

Save up and buy new springs and shocks , waste of time and energy doing a spacer style lift

If you look at the kit that is for sale , it has OME front springs and shocks ( not sure if 927s or what though.
Rear was just spacers and cheap hydraulic shocks , not good gas filled
You are basically just buying the front as the rest I would throw out the window, so bid accordingly
New springs about 170 for the pair plus your new front shocks added to that
In reality if you could snag it for under 200-225 plus shipping you'd be good
In the notes they have shipping as 18.10 but then below it says double that. So

So if I buy that it will cost me around $300 for the front with a arms and rear I have to spend and buy additional parts since it's garbage I may as well buy all that new correct for close to that price, so I may pass on that..what kind of lift it's worth to save up for in 2 and half inch to 3 inch category? I would use it mostly on road and maybe light off roading..

OME 927 front springs, 731 rear springs, then add Bilstein or OME shocks and you'll have 2.5" of lift. Add the 1/4" spacer plate or clevis in front and a spring isolator in back for 3". No need for new a-arms at that height either. All said and done, you're looking at about $800(I believe, prices have gone up. You used to be able to do this for $700-750).

3.5". I got OME 927/731 springs, Bilstein shocks, JBA a-arms, 1/4" spacer plate, 3/8" clevis, and 2 addition isos per side in the rear. Rides great, and cost me $1200 when I first lifted, but like I said prices have gone up since then. I have JBA's adjust-a-struts, but need to install them still...(I know guys... :juggle: )

Where on LI are you?

I heard rumor that prices are going up after the first of the year on some of the OME stuff. I was able to get my OME lift shipped to my door for $840.00.

Can you confirm this? I have been emailing Marlin back and forth and am going to buy the OME kit from him in January or February.

That information came from the supplier I bought mine from. He said it'd be about a 5-7% increase.

Haven't heard of any increases on my end, last year they released the increases in November or so, so far nothing ( yet) if they are .
Maybe that company is just increasing their price???

Could be. Or it was a sales tactic to get me to pull the trigger sooner than later

I went with used ome springs and ironman shocks, I did 3 conduit nuts clevis lift per side, my issue is how do I get right high, I am at 21.25 on passenger side, and only 20 inch on driver side, I also have als 1/4 top plates not installed, can I add 2 top plates to get that extra inch im missing?

The max you can go with the stock studs/top plate is 3/8". You cant stack 2 1/4" because there wouldn't be enough thread engagement for the nuts.

What OME springs did you get?
