These are the same shocks/design as the coilover but able to be used in the rear! But with 23.5" extended length I think a 4" might be too high for it...

I saw those. Definitely too short for 4". I think the ironman is 27" extended.

I'm still waiting on him to make coilovers for the rear.

Yeah, my rear Bilsteins are 16" collapsed and 26" extended. Grrr...

Use this and some soft springs from ebaich

That might work for someone with less than 4" of lift. The length should line up with shocks right? Or would you need to make new mounting tabs on the axle? If that's the case you can make the 23.75" extended length possibly work by moving the mounting tabs.

The rear shocks for 4" lift are currently in production. Sawwweeeeeeeeeeet!

Im planning on using 2" lift shocks and moving my shock up towards the axle to get it out of the rocks.

I've thought about doing that too haha. It'll get the lower shock bolt out from under the axle!

Thats the plan

If you chose to relocate the shock mounts and then run coil overs, what would be needed? Would the shock mount on the axle need to be more heavy duty? What about the shock mount on the body?

You talking about coilovers with OME springs or just a coilover and no OME spring at all?

Ditching the OME springs for adjustable coil overs.

In the front thats fine. But the rear you might run into some troubles

What if someone were to custom fab some HD mounts for the rear to replace the shocks mounts?

That's what I'm saying, NAM. Front can handle it, we don't even need to do anything thanks to the JBA adjustables that we have. The rear is where questions come in.

BMX: I have been doing my own research for custom coilovers...

Bilstein is my preferred shock so here is a good match (for 4" lift...) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsn-f ... 7Aod5wwAyQ
With these coils (not 100% on what weight is needed but 10" length) http://www.kingshocks.com/products/spri ... -3-0/#tabs

Or for a more price happy shock haha... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsn-f ... gQodvyQACw
With these coils: http://www.kingshocks.com/products/spri ... -2-5/#tabs

Or just go King-King: http://www.kingshocks.com/products/perf ... ance-race/

I've been told King makes some of the best coilovers. Maybe ebaich springs could save money. Then it comes down to spring rates.

OE rears are 200lbs, OME 731s are 280lbs. Would a coilover use the same spring rate or does that change due to the fact that it's a coilover. I'm gonna have to look around today.

Post subject:  Re: JBA Total Control Rear Shocks!

Same rate. The secound bilstein shock is what JBA use to use for the front.

Post subject:  Re: JBA Total Control Rear Shocks!

So as long as you use a single rate coil over, a 280lbs spring would work perfectly(maybe 300 if you tow a lot or want a stiffer rear). Then you'd need to make a stronger shock mount which means you'll move it up the tube and have a shorter shock.

Will the shock mount on the body be sturdy enough?

You my friend are in uncharted territory. But id do like Bills KJ (d30 surplus SFA build) and run them up thru the floor. With coilovers you are gonna loose your uptravel in the factory location. And possibly blow a shock.
