Has anyone mounted non factory tow hooks on their kk? I found two black hooks rated for 10,000 pounds and were only five dollars for the two. instantly snagged them up. They are generic style black hooks with a flat end and two holes in them for mounting.

Any ideas on places I could mount them? I would love it if i could cut the front bumper and have them ripping through.....

Those won't bolt up without some sort of modification. The Mopar tow hooks come with an adaptor plate on them that bolts to the crossmember in 3 places.

haha im well aware of the differences. thats why i started the post. im curious if anyone before me has made the modifications... the part of the front bumper that the actual plastic bolts to should be plenty strong for a rescue point right? right now im thinking of buying elbow brackets to mount onto that, reinforce them, then actually cut holes in the plastic bumper so that the hooks rip through. they will be much wider than the factory placement. and will sit a little higher too....

Someone feel free to stop me if you have already tried to do so or if you know this wont work....

dont. just look into the shakles made by AT the helm. they mount to the stock tow hook holes and look sexy. and theyre sturdy. you get what you pay for. 5 bucks prolly means theyll snap

I went on Amazon for a quick install. The hooks cost 12 bucks and hold about 3 tons. I have one on the rear with 2 bolts on it. And one in the front right under the passenger side where the pumpkin would mount up in a Euro KK, though it only has 1 bolt on it.

I've already used the front twice to pull a downed gigantic tree and to pull a buddy out from a mud hole.

If I saw another person with my particular tow hook set up, I'd smack em, so don't follow my install.
