Was pleasantly surprised to find out that my highway milage has not taken a hit. I was able to get from the quikchek gas station in Perth Amboy to Baltimore and could've gone back to that same gas station on one tank of gas. Was getting worried because I didn't know how much further it was to go so I stopped at the last rest area before my exit to fill up 5 gallons. In total, it was a 337 miles round trip loaded over ~17.5 gallons burned while filled with 4 people, beer, food, and other tailgate gear cruising at about 2250 rpm at 65. The economy light kept going on and off the entire trip which got me worried about my milage. But in the end, I got the same endurance going from the same gas station to Norfolk, VA stock while loaded with tools, baggage, and supplies from my previous job. I also picked up a cargo rack from horror freight. Thought I was going to lose milage because of it, but it did the job without any problems. ![]() ![]() Now to follow up with PAliftedKK and hound Hypertech for a tuner for the 2012's and do whatever else to squeeze some more milage from the tank. Then today, I dropped off my Jeep at the dealership to recalibrate the speedometer and traction control activation. Gave me the run around of how it might not take, asking what was modified, why do it to a Liberty and how I'll be charged for an hour labor either way. As of now it is still at the dealership. When I said that my traction control light was going off, they spent a good part of their time chasing codes that were nonexistent within the traction control and ABS system... The head tech couldn't recreate the conditions of the traction control going off during turns... When I brought up the steering angle sensor, he tells me that I need to go back to stock wheels and suspension so he can determine if the sensors are bad. I may have not described it properly to begin with by saying my traction control is activating during turns after installing bigger tires and also needing a speedometer calibration because of a gear and tire change. Not trying to bash the techs, just annoyed at the situation. |

Looks good, happy to see one being built right with right gearing for the size tires etc Good job on the build No way they need to have stock tires and wheels, they're just beating around the bush since they don't have a clue |

Thanks Tommudd. This build was done right with the trial and error of this community, and I thank you all for it. I got the Jeep back from the dealership. The tech who got assigned this morning to my oddball was informative to a point. He told me that my computer will not accept any tire size or gear ratio aside from stock. Ok. I took a ride with him and he got the traction control to go off. But he told me since the computer won'the accept anything other than stock, that I will have to live with the traction control activation because the steering angle sensors are working properly. He was worried that doing any adjustment to them would cause them to fail and cause an ABS failure. But I got a free 27 point inspection and PCM upgrade, which is nice. The research continues. |

To properly test the ABS and SAS that tech was right that being in stock form is the only way to test them. Besides it's not either the ABS(trac control) or SAS that is the cause of your issue. It's the ESP via the gyro, higher center of gravity is causing your issue.Grands and JK's had the same issue and was addressed via aftermarket support,to recalibrate the gyro, but they said no-go to late KJ's and KK's for to little interest. |

Thought I read in the stickied post "ESP and Alignment" that the SAS needed to be recalibrated. I included the ABS check because the systems are tied together. But the killer is definitely the lack of aftermarket support. |

If you're spinning 2250 at 65mph, do I even want to know what 70, 75, and 80 are? |

But the killer is definitely the lack of aftermarket support. Some vehicles require the SAS to be recalibrated via a scan tool or with a new enough alignment rack(with SAS program). Not all do and the KJ's and KK's are 1 model that do not have to be recalibrated since they have a self calibrating SAS.Most vehicles that require the SAS to be recalibrated are those with electric PS and any Toyota/Nissan made since like '04. I posted that warning for those that have other vehicles besides KJ's/KK's that have ESP. |
