Post subject:  HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

I just got done installing the full 3.5 Econo Ironman lift and for some reason my front is only coming in at 20 1/2 ds and 21 ps, rears are both 23inches from mid rim. I went with 1/2 clevis spacers for a level look but don't know what went wrong in the front and I also went with the heavy duty front springs. I did have a wheel alignment, Everything seems fine tho? Would I be able to put more top spacer plates in to level it out and is it worth it to add longer rear sway bar links? Did I do something wrong? Or is this just normal? I did follow ScarO build to a T.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks
Dan

So you did springs shocks and clevis, and I'm assuming a-arms. Did you add the 1/4" top plate while doing the lift? If not it's needed for the full 3.5". Remember ironman sits a tad lower than OME as well so you might not see the full 21.5" in front.

Well that answers my question then lol I wish I knew the OME struts were longer when I ordered, it would have saved me a headache of ripping it apart again since now I have to add more spacers to make it right :( Oh well, lesson learned lol Yes all the good stuff you entered above including the top plates are all done.

Do you have any input on those extended rear links?

All & all I do highly recommend this kit to anyone, the jeep rides 100% better than what it did.

Thank you for your help

The OME front " shocks " are not longer actually the Ironman are BUT shocks are not what gives the lift , springs are
Anyone who asks we tell to use the .500 clevis on the Ironman and the 3/8 inch on the OMEs

OP what year is your KK?
08s and 09s came with a cast clevis bracket which is 3/8" shorter than the later year's stamped bracket..
That shorted clevis bracket would translate to 3/4" less ride height.

I am running the .500 clevis on the Ironman & I'm running the heavy duty springs. So then I don't know what the issue can be then :? ?

As Tom said, struts don't give lift springs do. The OME springs sit a little higher than Ironman, but Ironman struts are a tad longer. If you did the clevis and top plate, I'm not sure what would be off. I'm not the most familiar with Ironman springs, maybe Tom would have more insight here.

lfhoward has extended rear sway bar links with 4" JBA rear springs. He claims they help, but you'll need to make sure you extend the brake lines.

Who knows? It's just my luck. I'll pick up a few more top plates to get it where it needs to be.

I'd call Jba and tell them what's going on...
You can't stack the top plates because you'll run run out of threads on the top plate studs.

Will do and exactly, there's only so much room to play with.

I did speak to Marlin and he recommends trying the OME springs to level it out. Hopefully this will do it?

Ome 927's showed up yesterday and I'm going to rip it apart shortly!! I hope this is the fix I'm looking for!! LOL :-)

Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

If using the OME 927s DO NOT use the .500 clevis spacer
top plate and 3/8 inch is it

Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

Save yourself some money and time from reordering and run to home deport or lowes and buy 6 2" conduit nuts. Do 3 per side and that'll equal 3/8" of clevis lift.

Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

Just got finished and unfortunately I used the .500 spacer not knowing 3/8 is the max  but it only came out to 21.5 ps and 21ds, so would it still be necessary to switch to the 3/8? I do have the 3/8 on hand if I need to swap them out? Not like I feel like it tho! What a nightmare this is turning into

Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

At that point leave it. Should be 21.5" with the 3/8" clevis. You're running 927 springs right?

Author:  onebadstv [ Sun Jun 12, 2016 4:45 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

So 21.5 is the max for the front then and Yep the 927's and will do!! May mess with the ds a lil at another time to get it right :-) I just hate when things are off! OCD I guess!! LOL

Post subject:  Re: HELP WITH 3.5 ECONO IRONMAN LIFT

No, you can crank the front up to 22-22.25 (some can get around 22.5", but this is pushing it). You'll need coilovers for that though. With the OME 927s or any other full size spring you're limited to 3.5", anything more and you get a TON of spring-control arm contact.

That's good to know, its definitely been a learning experience and I'm starting to wonder if I should of went with the coilovers? Only time will tell and Thanks for all your help :)
