Hey guys, I took my front sway bar off last summer (I don't remember the exact reason though...) and when I put it back on it developed a clunk going over bumps and when making low speed turns. I took it back off and the clunking stopped completely. I just installed JBA extended sway bar links and put it back on and the clunking is still there. Everything is tight so I'm not sure what the noise is coming from. Is there a way that I could have installed it incorrectly? If the bushings are cracked holding the bar to the frame, could that do it?

I'm stumped

I'm thinking bad sway bar bushings. If the joint can move side to side at all because the rubber bushing is shot, that would cause clunking.

As in the two large bushings holding it to the frame right? I had a feeling that might be the issue. I can almost feel it moving side to side when the clunk occurs

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the rear sway bar. But probably the principle is the same for the front, even though the bushings are different.

Don't go cheap on the replacement bushing though. I'd spend the money and knock on MOPAR's door because the cheap Chinese stuff will disintegrate...literally.

Before you torque everything down, make sure the weight of the rig is on the suspension.
Bounce the bumper up/down 3 times to settle things in, then torque.

Do you guys have any suggestions for bushing manufacturers?

I'd recomend poly-iso bushings. They last darn near the life of the vehicle. One draw back though is that they are noisy when wet. I added a grease zerk to my bushings and are pretty good when im trailing.

Rubber bushings on the end links though.
