Love to hear the story about how you stuffed your front strut. Always good for a story cmohr.

Do you think the oil from the strut stuffed the sensor or is it unrelated?

Unfortunately, not exciting story, It was already going, and it just shat itself, and dumped oil out everywhere, Like driving a boat at the moment.

Had the Kj checked at Jeep on Friday, oil could have been a contributer to the ABS ligt, but, the sensor keeps failing so it time for a new one..... $168.00 plus fitting... Might be calling Jeeeepart again.

Hey Chris, did only your ABS light come on by it's self or did the brake light come on also?. The reason I ask is my ABS and brake light are comming on all the time now and was wondering if it was a sensor bringing on both lights at the same time or it may be another problem all togeather. They have been comming on since the car was new, had it back to the dealeer atleast 6 times and it is still there.
If anyone can help shed some light on a possible cause it would be greatly appreciated.

Just spent the morning under the KJ, took the rear sensor out and there was a fair bit of crud built up on the sensor end(in the diff) so cleaned it up and cleaned up the contacts with contact cleaner and presto, no more light comming on after a short drive, remains to be seen how it goes on a longer drive though. One interesting thing though is when the plug is pulled from the sensor and turn the ignition on I only get the ABS light on by it's self without the brake light as well, yet when driving and one comes on the other one comes on as well...interesting.

Yes, I think it was all the oil out of the strut, but, it was already giving faults so it may be buggered.

Interesting about the rear one.. I must admit I never had an ABS light come on until we were replacing that rear upper control arm , and we did bump the wiring there on the sensor a few times. I myself thought that may have been a contributer to to fault light..

Might crawl under myself and give the connecting a clean up.

My front sensor wire got ripped out when the JKS disconnect dropped the stabilizer bar on it.
Big bucks for a new on so I soldered a new piece of wire between the broken ends work a treat, also beats replacing as it's a whole harness for both front wheels. My OBD reader doesn't report errors but the light was on. The jeep OBD tool reported a drivers side front sensor error so I imagine it would also show up rear sensor errors. The brake light error never came on only ABS light which cleared after a few minutes driving after re -joining the wire. I think it needs low pressure in the master cylinder to trip brake errors.
