i was wondering how you all got rid of the rivet that hold on the plastic spare tyre suround

i found something i can use to mount my numberplate on and be legal, but i am just wondering what everone else did

Drilled it out, then it fell into the tail gate, I then got a sealed gromet (if that's what you call it) to seal the hole. Stupid idea to use a rivet to hold it in place, they must have run out of R&D funds so they thought it would be cheaper to use a rivet to hold it rather than a nut & bolt.
