hey all,
installing a nudge bar this coming weekend that i "stole" from cmohr
what a nice guy... got the first bit on without having to go hunting (replaced the factory tie down) then run into a major hitch with trying to work out how to take the bumper off, gave up, came here and remember i'd downloaded hte service manuals already (man i'm blonde somedays)... oh well at least if i need to be snatched down lanecove road tomorrow morning i'll have a rated recovery point heheh...
Then i've go to do the UHF radio and antenna ... got a uniden 015 model, any recommendations for where to mount the main unit? i was htinking about either under the centre console or where everyone else seems to behind the drivers kick plate (whatever its called)... thoughts? on and what's the easiest / best way to run the antenna wire through the car?
Oh... CD... the 72mm mount i got for the antenna fits perfectly over the bar! (well except for the bolts like you said) however i had to goto bunnings (man i love that place... bought soooo much... anyway i digress)... took a slightly different tact to you..i got a 1/2meter length of the stainless bolt stuff that you cut to length, did a test fit and it first perfectly, going to run a nyloc (sic) top and bottom ... should look pretty ok... the stuff is narrower than the bolts that came with the antenna mount so they go straight and don't have to be bent or anything, should look like it was meant to be... i'll have heaps left over if you want to give it a go i'll only end up using like 20cm.
now i just have to decide whether i keep that fugly colour of cmohr's nudge bar (hehehe joke mate) or powder coat it... i think i'll have to mount it and see it in the sun first. it kind of actually works with the silver jeep in a funny kind of way...
