[b]SUNDOWN NATIONAL PARK W/E of the 15th & 16th Nov[/b]

OK Its been far too long between trips. Sooo :!:

Team J.a.G has long been interested in exploring this NP and from all reports it has attracted many adventurous 4wd campers.

For those who are unfamiliar with its location it begins off the New England Hwy at Ballandean 20km south of Stanthorpe QLD and 15kms Nth of the NSW border at Wallangarra.

From Ballandean it is 14km to the gate of the NP then 18 kms to BURROWS WATERHOLE camp site. This is 4wd only track and camping for tents and off road camp trailers only. According to my references, this distance can take up to 2 hours to traverse as the tracks are rocky & often steep. High clearance 4wds recommended.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS: Superb scenery, wildlife, driving, camping, walking, swimming (Severn River) fishing & canoeing.
Camp site bookings and Permits are required (QNPWS via Stanthorpe)

Recommended time of year is May to September to avoid the heat. I think late October should be OK.

Team J.a.G is looking at leaving on the Thursday nite (30th Oct) and arriving at Stanthorpe (overnite Motel) to gain an early start at the track in daylight.

We would love to have all those LOST KJ's interested to come along and share the experience and adventure with us.

Can't do a full weekend, have gardening duties today and tomorrow, and then backing up to a 5 day shoot.
And I 've just had the KJ detailed so.......
But seriously, have a great time, and as usual, take lots of pics.

We went through here in Jan this year - Have to say from memory its a rough ride we did the loop in and back out on one of the back tracks - not as far as the main campsite but a fair way in. The main track in is not difficult just rough, bone shaking. neck jarring and head bangily sore. the back track out is interesting. Would be really interesting with some rain.

Word of warning there's an in park pinstripe service - no charge and they are happy to pinstripe from the wheels to the roof!

Liz and I will be leaving Brisbane on Friday evening, stopping somewhere overnight and arriving Sat morning. By the sound of it we will need to fix a UHF channel in advance in case we need help getting the camper in!

OK ! Due to Kath's sisters wedding that falls the week-end after the proposed date, it has been suggested that we postpone the week-end until the w/end of the 15th & 16th Nov. This may also allow other takers who were previously unavailable???
