KJ's in for repairs

I will let you guy's know what's broken etc when I find out next week. It's a bit of a bummer as I was going add some of those prado packers to the front left (slight sag).

I hope not, I've been quite worried about taking it off road since Gregs diff bit the dust. THis however will fix that and should be like new.

So what were you getting , a funny grinding noise or something????? How did you find out about it???, How many "A"s are there in Australian.??????

If "A"'s mean booty holes then there are lots of them LOL

It's like a metal rattle, you only hear it when you slow down and get to about 10ks or so. It can be very loud (after driving at speed), but can be quite after a bit of stop and start. The other thing is it's not the same all the time but recently it's been getting louder and I've noticed a slight delay in initial acceleration from sitting still (small sounding clunk). You can rotate the 1/2 shaft quite a bit, move it forward and backward (in and out of the diff), you can also shake it from side to side.

Best way to describe the noise would be to say; get a thick bit of metal and hit it between two bits of metal (back and forward real fast, then slow it down real fast.... stop.................do it again.......stop..................do it again). I say thick metal as it's not a tinny sound but a deep sound and certainly not a grinding noise.

Lucky I've not lowered my transfer case, if I had it would not pass warranty.

Now that has to be one of the best decriptions I've read in a long time

But does not sound good.....

All I've got is a clunk when I go over speed bumps in Paddington :oops:

So they have ordered a collapsible spacer and new bearings so far, not sure what else as I couldn't talk to the guy who looks after me. All to come from Germany :roll:

, could be 2 weeks or more. He did tell me that I had water in the diff, lucky me.. he's still doing it on warranty.

sorry to hear about the water have you thought about extending the breathers? I've seen a few posts here saying its a good idea but from a quick investigation you need an arm the width of a pencil with a couple of extra wrists :shock:

Anyone local had a go?

Don't be sorry Steve, it's not going to cost me anything... this time. I agree it's a good idea, and will probably give it more thought once I get the KJ back.

Ed was talking about doing it last year but not sure if he still intends on doing it or not, looks like a real pain in the booty job.

So the KJ is still on the hoist at Jeep Chatswood, been up on it for over 2 weeks now. I've got to say I've wanted to go down there just to have a look at it LOL. So parts are still in transit :roll:
