Post subject:  Front upper ball joints.
My upper front ball joints are had it and just got a quote from Jeep for replacement ones is $720 each as they come attached to the control arm, can't replace the ball joint by itself. Anybody got other idea's? I know jeeping by Al has some upper control arms somewhere.

Ross, you can get Original Equipment Upper Control Arms (with the UBJ) for $97 USD here: (Check out Item number 8 in the drawing and the price list)

Even with shipping that is going to be way cheaper than $720 each.

I would think that there is potential for a group buy as well, as we are all going to need them at some point.

G"Day Ross, I just ordered myself Als Upper A-arms, hope they will be here this week..

I just killed my second set of standard ones. :cry: So don't want to make the same hassles for myself. I do think the reason for the second set busting apart was my buggered front struts, but still, I need the extra clearence from the coils, and the corrected ball angles to feel safer.

I did originally just go with 2nd hand ones from Jeeepart, (175.00 each) but with my lift I feel it will just keep happening with the standard ones, so I've bit the bullet and just gone for it.


581.00 USD for the pair delivered to me express UPS.

Hope you all ordered the new ones gen 4.5 i think they are, supposed to have a offset balljoint and no rubbing like mine do(design fault :o )Did anyone check the ones GLEND mentioned?

Has anyone considered replacing their lower balljoint with the MOOG one's I have read somewhere on here,
would help with articulation with those new arm's you's are getting. Just a thought while all this effort is going
on. I had a look at Nobby's UCA's at Coff's and they actually look like they are TIG welded around bush area
so I think FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR THE BELAFONTE and the mud mobile.
PS, I'm itching for a run so don't be to much longer with all these mod's would you's, it's bad enough being
jealous of all these goodies being bought and I will need someone to pull me out of the poo.

Yes, 4.5's... Nobby, you do know Al's has an upgrade program for older arms, by which you can payless to upgrade to the 4.5's???? Just a thought..

And Yes Jason, I have actually thought of the replacement lowers, but, with the millions of dollars of repairs The Belafonte has just had/having, once I get Him out of drydock I want to keep Him on the Open ocean for as long as possible :D

I ordered Last Friday??? I think it was. So if it was Monday despatch, Yeah, 3-4 Days... But for 195.00 USD, I'd be unhappy if it took longer :D

I've replaced them before so this should be easier, just need to do a wheel alignment afterwards, and these should make alignments better too.

Might get to it on Sunday... Along with fitting a certain set of superskinks maybe :D

Your KJ is a CRD right? If it is I would highly suggest not cutting the pockets,un-cut pockets will act like a bumpstop(will not harm the arm) and keep your CV's from overextending.Had to rebuild the pockets on a gas KJ with his 6" lift since it had to much droop and the CV's made some very nasty sounds at full droop and also pushed the front diff side to side about 1"(bad for the diff mounts).Oh and he also had the JE REEL cut CV's also.
