Check out this article at The Truth About Cars site. Finally an article that says something good about the Liberty at a car site.

Did you see all the crap he got for it? There are alot of articles on the internet that love the libby. It seems as though they are never pointed out, its always the ones that hate it.

http://www.edmunds.com/new/research/jeep/liberty.html

They seem to like it.

Also, most suvs are leaving the days of bad MPG. I personally do not believe the libby gets bad MPG. My GF went to myrtle beach with some friends in a suburban. It has a 42gallon tank and they barely made it there without filling up. Mapquest says its 502miles from my home to there, so thats 12MPG!! My libby would get 20 easily. A crd would get around 28 mpg. The hemi grand cherokee would get around 17-18. If auto makers really wanted to do something about gas, they could. This flexfuel stuff is crap. We all need to go to diesels running off oil.

It amazes me how closeminded damned near every one of those comments is. It seems like they all assume the EVERY SUV on the road is an Expidition or larger, that EVERY SUV on road is driven by a soccer mom/arm-candy wife, and that EVERY SUV on the road gets 10 MPG.

I too hate the house-wife driven Navigator, speaking from experience. My sister-in-law, who literally leaves the house twice a week to shop, feels that she is justified in owning a navigator because of Child safetly, grocery capacity, and a v8 that lets it move at upwards of 120mph (with the kids in the car). SHE is what they are complaining about, not us.

Yeah, how about the one who categorically states that SUV's are unnecessary? Each class of vehicles has its purposes ...

I like Gris' comment about making several water-fording trips to help rescue family members :) Way cool. Is he one of us?

EDIT: nevermind :-)

LOL, Gris:

Quote:
as touching as your story is, jeep liberty’s air intake is not above a 3′ height the last time i looked, negating your ute’s ability to swim. minus the exaggeration, people do not buy vehicles based on a once in a lifetime possibility either. glad they got out safe though.

My intake is at 42" with a 2.5" lift and 31.6" tires. I get 1.75" from the tires and 2.5" from the lift. That means at stock my intake was at 37.75", or 3.15', not to mention the fact that our Libertys are made for fording. Now, I guess the water could come in through the drainage holes in the bottom of the intake.... Better get the snorkle and repost Gris

Uh, where's my arm-candy wife? I have been looking high and low for her to drive my KJ Reny.  8)
