Well gang, we have talked about doing either repair training, or recovery training meetings to familiarize ourselves with our rigs during the off season. So...

Joel, do you still want to tear that other side of your front end apart as a demo???

or is there anything else anyone wants to learn about or teach the group about??

When and where?
I have the following weekends off in January:13/14 and 27/28

So what do you all think?

Count me in. Recovery training and winching would be good training even if you don't have a winch.

Survival kits for the Rockies would be good training/prep also.

Well if doing recovery training being outside is best(hopefully not a real cold day) so we could do this anyplace so it's easier for everyone to attend. If tearing a front end apart there is the auto craft places on the AFA and Ft Carson or if anyone has a heated garage(or again a really nice day).I vote for recovery skills to(need to freshin up a little) that way we could do it in a central location.Good idea Tokyojoe about survial kits,we could do this at the same time to,just the basics because everyone will be different.Pete is really good at recovery, and Ted and I have winches so this wouldn't be to difficult to get toghether.Could have a nice meal after also for those you want to go.Just a thought though, any type of training(mechanical or otherwise) I'm up for.I'm also willing to teach and supply tools if needed.

I'm up for just about anything. If anyone wants a recovery class, I can do that easily (9.5 years as a military recovery guy). I can also help out with survival classes. If we want, I might be able to hook up with the Forestry Service to see if they want to give us a mountain survival class.

ok, We have interest, now what and where. Recovery Pete would need to be lead, and although I have a winch, my skills are pretty basic.

For teardown. It depends on how far we want to go. If we want to remove a half shaft, then whoever volunteers their jeep will need to get the retaining clips for the shafts ahead of time just in case one breaks. Also I checked with the auto hobby on AFA, no go, liability reasons with too many civilians, sorry guys, that and we would have to work on a military member's rig only.

I really like that idea. I'm sure it could be useful to all of us. I know I sometimes go into the boonies without a group and it would be good to make sure I am up on all that stuff.

The survival class from the Forestry Service is going to have to wait until after the first week of March. I have work commitments from now until March 9th.

Well, January is about over, I know I am real busy, and it seems everyone is (that and frozen) So if anyone really wants to do anything, then bring it up.

My main concerns for this month is in the thread I posted about who is going to MOAB.
We need to get ideas/donations for raffle prizes, and figure out who is going, etc..

Next month Kuegelager has suggested a wrench party, I am all for that, I have way too much to get done before April!
