I like the idea of moving the front suspension forward...and did you drop the steering rack or not?

Hey Darby,

The entire cradle was dropped including the rack.

And to Sport;

As for production, the only thing that is not bolt on right now is the upper a-arm pockets. And soon as I get done modifying the RC rear truss; that will be a complete bolt on system. I should be done with that around late Feb. So the majority of the lift will be bolt in. I even figured out how to get the upper arms to be bolt in too, but you will need to do major work removing the cradle and engine, and be brave cutting into the unibody. That is why I wish someone would cast longer knuckles with the steering connections up higher. Skyjacker said they could; but one-offs would run around $2,500. I just don't have that type of R&D budget. So far in R&D, with the minor screw ups the lift has cost me around $5,500, over the last two years. Actual cost to you when done should be a lot cheaper. My cost included 3 front strut set ups, two sets of rear shocks, the steel, the front hitch, three sets of a-arms, and the $1,500 to get the a-arms pockets lowered by Jeff Daniels Jeep. And the cost to date doesn't include the hours I put in. The actual install on the front only took me around 24 hours, with all the removing resetting etc.

I think I will need a sponsor soon, and a place to live, because when my wife sees this I will be dead meat!!!

Al

Tooling up for a casting is expensive, you have a machine shop right? Do you think you could hog one out? An EDM would be handy for something like that.

So how the heck did they already make spindles for the lifted WK but they dont for the KJ yet? I know there is a higher demand for KJ spindles than there is for WK's. :?

Hey Al if you need any parts machined my College has a 5-axis CNC Milling machine and a huge CNC Lathe. If you can get stuff drawn up in Pro-E or something comparable I can whip ya up whatever you need in just about any material you want. Just let me know....great to hear about your lift system as I actually did not know anything of what you had done...Good luck with the finishing touches...later

Hey 2006KJSPORT4x4 would autocad work? Could you convert it into "CNC" ? If you can I can get a 3-d spindle drawn up. Several of my engineering buddies owe me a favor or two.

Please bear or bare with me!

The rear Rock Krawler truss and quad link for the back is on hold until I get the steering rack back in and the KJ back on the road (or off-road).

HEY SUPERLIFT, RANCHO, ROCK KRAWLER....anyone want to sponser me while I develop the lift? I will need two things: 1). around 5 to 10 grand to make a complete bolt in IFS kit with a steel dana 30 or 44 front. and to continue 2). For a front SFA conversion one 4 inch WJ or TJ long arm kit, couple of driveshafts, a dana 30 HP, and a steering box with tierods. :shock: (Do I hear music...beautiful dreamer.....)

Al

Heck....you send enough drawings and stuff down here maybe we can convince the school of engineering to make this a Senior Design Project for you....what do you think?
