Hence the use of electronic flashers! Someone on this thread said a resistor worked for them. Hmm, what a PITA!

So far, LED in the tail lights are no trouble if you don't mind the blinkres blinking at about 120/min instead of the usual 80. If you want LED's in the front blinkers also, you're going to need some other stuff, electronic flasher or resistors, or who knows what. I'm still working on that part...

So, here's a pic of the LED's. I don't have the best digital so this pic doesn't really say much about how much brighter they are. You can clearly tell that the LED is burning brighter than the incandescent. At night, I can make shadow pupptes on a wall 50 feet behind my KJ with the bu lights on.

The "hyper flashing" is being caused by the LEDS requiring less current than the regular bulbs, therefore causing the flasher unit to blink faster. I have read on another forum that he solution is to replace the flasher unit with one designed for LEDS or to wire a resister into the circuit. I'll try to find the info again if I can. You might also do a search on the Internet.

I found this site. If you go to the discussion forums they have a section on LEDS. You have to register, but I think it is free. I'm sure someone there can answer your questions. Good luck.

One trick is to wire in a regular bulb behind a panel or inside the bumper cover or under the hood (hidden) to trick the curcuit into believing that you still have regular bulbs.

I know Redneck, but what do you expect I hang out with an XJ guy...

OK, I found some 25 watt resistors for cheap. i'll install them this week and see what happens. IF it works, I'll post pics and details...

Figure I'd add my 2-cents about LED lights for stop lights.. I love the idea.. except the aftermarket ones I've seen in cars seem to have a very shallow angle.. now this isn't bad for someone directly behind you.. but our stop lights act as rear running lights too... meaning if the angle of the light isn't wide enough.. someone may not see the back of your vehicle when approaching you on a 90 degree angle... again this is only will LED's I've seen, hopefully there is better technology out there..

I'm really kinda interested in the interior dome lights and if there is a way to get them to take the LCDs. Thats one thing I liked when lookin at the Aspen was the LED lights. LEDs seem to be better for maps and that. Can you reprogram the BCM?

I guess the ones used by the guy that started this thread are working. Check out the link I posted, that is where he got them, 194's for interior, and 3157's for tail lights. They look like nice bulbs and not outrageously priced. Someone mentioned some LED's not being wide angle enough....these ones ARE wide angle, there are 32 bulbs that go completely around the outer diameter. They even have some in blue.

Had the same problem but a clever friend figured it out. He figured it was the doors signals causing the issue (Glowing while driving) so he used a micromini relay 12vdc and had to create contacts on the relay from the door signal and then to the light . It buzzes alittle but the light goes goes off now. Yeaaaa.
