Hey guys I am looking at maybe getting a set of wheeling tires just for offroading. I am looking at a bunch of different super swampers but they are all in standard sizing and most of the different stuff I have seen is all in metric what would be the limit for tire size in standard. Has anyone tried some boggers or thornbirds they seem to be pretty wide at the 31 inch size can this be remedied by spacers and/or rims. Let me know what you guys think thanks.

wide and high with the big lugs is going to kill you with rubbing
they make a 31X9.5 R15 that should work with a 2+ inch lift also I think that they make a 215/85R15 that may work stock with the right rims
as far as boggers they will probably never work but I am going to try to get some 30X11.5R16 thornirds on in about a year , the wife will never drive it if I do it now and it is hers for another year

go to interco tire's web site and compare the sizes to what folks are running now and you will see but keep in mind that hight and width go hand in hand

so if I went with a 3.75 inch bs rim and some 1.25 spacers how wide would I be able to go I see that most are running max a 265 75 r16 which is 31.6 x 10.4 a 29 x 10.5 thorn but the 30 goes to 11.5 them tires are so sweet I want to run them so bad wish they had a 31 x 10.5 that would be perfect

you will NOT be able to run them with less than about 4.5" of bs
I know that nolakj ,a member here, is running 30X9.5's with 3.75" of BS and he needed to bumpstop the rear as well as pound the pinch weld even with a rustys spring lift

I am going to try using the factory rims ,even though they are narrow, with the 30X11.5 thornbirds
I know that i will need to bumpstop and also trim and pound but it will look mega cool

you may get away with the 3.75" BS rims but you will need to keep it at 30" or less OD the 31X9.5 TSL radial may work
if you want to go with the thornbirds and the 3.75" BS rims then you could do the 29X10.5's I think that you could do these stock

That is what I am saying not only do they eat dirt for supper and give you some awesome traction but they look tough as nails. So you think with a 3.75bs rim and some 1.25 inchspacers I could run the 30 x 10.5 aye that is good news i was really sad that I wouldn't be able to run them. This puts a new light at the end of the tunnel for me. I would love to see yours when you get them on.

NO you can not do that
with the 3.75" BS and the 1.25" spacer you are moving you wheel center out 3" with a tire that wide on the KJ you want to keep it in and not move it more than maby 1-1.5" out max

I think the best thing would be to find some rims in a 15X8 with 4.5" BS that would be best
it would move it out away from the sway bar and still keep it out of the flairs

AH ok I guess I don't understand the BS theory very well then I just though adding spacer to the combo kind of made it a psudo 4.75bs. But it makes sense not wanting to move the center of the wheel out to much. Well after talking to my cousin this weekend I think the thorns are voted out several guys that he knows got them and there not happy at all said they had to air them down extremely low to get good offroad performace and they would run a high risk of sliping a bead then. This was just with their testing but that leads me away from then think your original idea with the taller skinner tsl would be better. I have to appologize I am a newb to alot of this and still learing to keep the info coming I love it. Thanks again for all the tips and info.
