Hi everyone!
time to remove winter tires is near and when doing some calls for prices , seller gave me numbers....a bfg at in 245-75-16 will be 30.5 hight and 9.8 width and I know It will fit well cause its the size of my winter tires and I have not removed the pinch weld... but the man gave me the idea of a 265-70-16 mesuring about 30.7 hight and 10.6 width(a little less on a stock 7 or 7.5 large wheel he said) so it looks like a good idea, just .2in higher and 1/2 -5/8 larger.
I think with 1.25 wheel spacer it will fit pretty well and will not harm gearing more than 245's since its just .2in more high, because I think 245-75-16 do harm the vehicule at highway speed a little.

so tell me what you guys think about this!

ps the jeep has 2.5 rusty coil and 1/4 clevis

Should work great--I very seriously considered doing the same thing.

You should plan to pound down the pinch weld and probably cut some plastic or remove your wheel well liners, though.

1) Spacers are great at pulling the tire away from the sway bar, but they also put you closer to your fender flares.
2) You're adding another ~1/2" outside width with the wider tires.
3) BFG TAs are a very square tire, with a wider tread than most tires, so the width at the tread is probably an additional 1/4-1/2" wider.

Still not a bad idea, just be prepared. Or don't plan on turning your wheels--they should fit great when you're driving straight.

STOP looking at the section width and look at actual tread width, You ain't gettin as much rubber on the road as it seems.

BFG tires are crap, dont waste your money, you can get a much better tire for half the price at tirerack.com

Let him be,if he wants BFG's let him get BFG's.I don't like them ether but it's not my place to say what tire to buy(you ether),now size per lift is okay to warn against but not brand,

I happen to like the BFG's I've had them on every truck I've owned & now my KJ's, I've had very good luck with them

from what I've seen around here the most popular are
good year mtr's , bfg's , bridgstone revos , & general's

Oh by the way JEEEPAOLIC just remember those tires are going to be wider,running 1.25" spacers may make things worse but then again the factory rims will cause problems to.Sorry to say but new rims(with 4.50-4.75 BS) or about 3/4" spacer is what's needed,but I could be wrong.Pounding down the pinch weld will be a must though.

fine, buy whatever you want, but BFGs suck in ice, snow and rain. worse than stock goodyears.

So what tires do you run? Agressive tread tires(even AT's) are not good ice,then again no tire is really good on ice unless you have studs.I run MT/R's and they are really good in the rain(because of the big voids between the lugs) and awsome in the snow,now ice well they suck on ice but you can't hardly beat them on the rocks.BFG's( AT's and mud terrains) are really good in the rain,snow,and yes they do suck on ice.I have ran BFG's (mud terrains) before and beside weak side walls they where really good tires but I love my MT/R's.It really depends on what you want and want the tires to do,the stock goodyears are really not that bad but alot of poeple here want more from there tires so they are "bad" for them.You can't just say something sucks without something to back it up with,you seem to have this problem,alot.

Your the first person I've ever heard to say that statement. Some people prefer other tires over the BFG's but never hate them that bad.

I guess it also has to do with what you use your Libby for. If your into tuning your Libby for top end performance and looks rather than off-road ability than he might have a point.

Based on the money they charge for the bfg a/t I think they suck too. You can buy a better tire for a lot less. But the bfg m/t, that's a whole different story!

They will rub
it is not just tire hight but also width that makes them rub
the rub is caused by the line that goes from the outside rear to the inside front of the tire that line will be what gives you your rub
it is kind of like this
wide + high = rub I do not know what rub =
if tire hight was all that cause rub then more people would run tires like 31X12.5's short but wide problem is that with that tire you can not turn

my experiences with bfg at's range from totalling a mini van at 5 mph with a 4x4 ranger with brand new tires, in 3 inches of fresh wet snow...

to loud hummm driving down the road, to very vague steering, to slipping easily in rain or ice, horrible vibration inducing wear requiring rotation every 2-3000 miles to keep it to a minimum,

to those ugly knobs on the side that are impossible to keep clean. and they are totally useless in mud.

expensive pieces of crap. im glad it was someone elses truck and not mine.

i wont buy tires that dont have circumferencial grooves.

sorry to hear about your bad experiance with these

just keep in mind they'll clean themselves to a point it's NOT a mud terrain & as for ice no tire I know of is good on that unless it's studded & even then

I've had very good results with these on 6 differant vehicles & rotated every 6,000 miles very even tread wear but to each his own got them on my KJ & still love them

true they are pricey though as for the humm you get used to it

hmm... would have to disagree with you, I have BFG AT KO's and they are fine in snow ice and rain also very sturdy I picked this up http://home.centurytel.net/kentspics/misc/IMGP0908.jpg and the tire did't blow out.
