It wont hurt anything to have it off, but it bothered the heck out of me when it happened.

I switched to solid lug nuts that look exactly the same as those so I wouldnt have to deal with replacing them all the time. Cost $29.99 with a new lug wrench that fit, $20 without and that was replacing all of them including the spare.

Replacement lugs from the dealer run $5-$7 a piece, I have my old ones if you are interested.

It won;t hurt anything, but your stock lug wrench might end up stripping it since the diameter is now smaller.

I highly recommend getting rid of the stock one and replacing them with aftermarket lug nuts. Even if you get crappy aftermarket pep-boys ones, as long as they are solid metal, they are still better than stock.

If you want to replace the stock piece sometimes you can complain about the missing cap at the dealership service department to get a free one (or a handfull)

I went solid as well. Traded in the tires on the first day at Discount Tire, I think he charged me a buck a piece for the solid lug nuts. BTW, many, if not most, manufacturers use these capped lug nuts now.

I have managed to damage some lug nuts on my '02 KJ Ltd - tore off the little caps when I collided with a Mitsubishi 3000 GT. What is my best choice for replacements? And, does anyone happen to know size and pitch?
